A freebie for Flyertalkers
 

Hey, I just finished putting the last touches on my cool desktop background that makes you feel you are inside the aircraft. That is if you really want to feel that. I got it from an American Airlines magazine. It had a Donkey and a hat in the ad (Colombian Coffee) and I edited them out (I hope AA doesn't call me). And this one is specifically for Flyertalk.

Quite nice. I made it my default background for now (I change it every week or so). I need to shrink it to an appropriate size later today though as right now I'm losing the edges.

I'm glad you like it. My apologies for not offering a First Class View. Maybe next time I'll take my digital camera and take a couple of pictures, from different airlines. And one from the cockpit.... and one from the bathroom?

I'm also trying to find a "beep" sound for my computer that resembles the fasten your seat belt beep. I'm editing one file that I have and it's getting pretty close. But I'd love to have the original from Boeing. Eventually I'll try to build a collection of images and sounds to make a theme.

Is there a cure for this?

If I remember correctly (if your're musically -inclined (and I'm not)) the seat belt chime is close to a middle C in the musical scale.

Remember the chime code (seems to be pretty universal). Usually, this is done only by the flight crew cycling the FASTEN SEAT BELTS/NO SMOKING light switch in the cockpit:

2 chimes - passed through 10,000 feet; flight attendants may begin meal/beverage service.

4 chimes -- cleared for takeoff/landing, flight attendants must be seated in their jumpseats for takeoff/landing.

Other chime codes are prearranged between the flight crew and flight attendants, and are usually reserved for emergency situations.
