MIA/ATL-Time travel with Delta!
 

Ladies,
For a real experience book a flight on one of Deltas 727's.

(But don't forget to dawn your Bell Bottoms, a pair of Platforms and an Afro.)

It's like stepping back in time to the 70's, the Oranges, yellows and gold colors of the interior, and those lovely comfortable seats with a stylish design( That is if your 4'2").
I love the Galley Area with it's Orange counter tops, reminds me of Mom's kitchen. And those partitions covered with that laminated peal-away wooden paneling. (Where has this type of workmanship gone!). I was afraid to check out the bathrooms, they probably flush directly onto the runway.

I felt sorry for the little Stewardesses they looked so embarrassed as passengers boarded this time capsule.

As a set for the Latest Movie "54", it would work out great, but
"Delta", Queen Marvella has two words for you.....UPDATE, UPDATE!!!
I'm surprised they still sell parts for that Dinosaur.

I hear the interiors on the Greyhound buses are nice, possibly you should check them out on your next trip.

Marvella ~ Delta is in the middle of updating the interiors aboard all of its aircraft, including the 727's. I was aboard a 727 just last week, and the interior was actually quite nice, and I had to check the safety card to figure out what type of plane I was on.

So if you enjoy those psychadelic interiors, you better enjoy it while you can, because they won't be around for much longer!

Before I clicked this topic open, I thought it would be about flights that land before they take off.

An example: I flew from Grand Rapids, MI to Chicago. Take off at 10:25am (ET) and land at 10:10am. (CT)

Keeping on topic, I frequently fly on NW DC-9's and think they have done a superb job of updating the interiors. They look like brand new planes.

I think airlines should upgrade the interiors
every few years otherwise they could look like the Air China interiors (Late seventies
pastels psychadelic colors!) Yikes.

I'm more into various shades of blues, maybe
that's another reason why I like U-A.

OMNI POSTING: I was in junior high during the Disco era, and it was a nightmare. I don't
want to step onto an airplane to remind me of those horrors (and the early part of the 80's and high school as well.)

I think 727 interiors must be particularly tough to keep current--TWA has blue, silver and red upholstery and woodgrain. I have been on one of these Delta planes and it is really a sight to behold--all you expect to see in the galley is a harvest gold matched refrigerator and freezer to complete the '70s rec room motif.

Right about that! I've flown on several Delta 727s this past year and have noticed the difference in cabin decor... some of the older aircraft still have the 70's decor; and as the 72s go through their new paint update, they (usually) get the new interior as well. (for those rabid airline trivia buffs, Delta owns and flies the 1000th 727 and 737 off the Boeing assembly line).

On the other hand, I've seen some Delta aircraft exterior paint (on the old colors) looking pretty shabby, giving rise to another contrived acronym for Delta: "Dirty Exteriors Lack Travelers' Approval."
