You will be surprised at the number of good resturants in London (also how expensive they will be) Not sure where your hotel is located but here are some I had good meals at
mostly located in or near Mayfair (near the London Hilton) Nobu (Japanese), Titanic near Picadilly Circus and Axis in the Covent Garden theatre district and Mirabelle my favourite London restaurant.

If you like good Indian food which is hard to find here in Florida, Red Fort and a resturant with menu items you wont see anywhere else, Cafe Spice Namiste near Tower bridge.

Two others a visited a few years ago The Canteen in Chelsea Harbour and Le Tante Claire used be in the old military hospital in Chelsea but I understand is now near Harrods.

Enjoy your stay in one of my favourite cities.

Seven at 1 Leicester Square (food is excellent and its on the 7th floor with amazing views of the city). Incognico (French) a fairly new place on Shaftsbury in the heart of the theatre district. We stumpbled upon it and loved it. We got home and saw it written up in Travel and Leisure Magazine.

If by "cont" you mean continental, my favorite is Brasserie St. Quentin on Brompton Road (I think) in Knightsbridge. I've taken several business associates there. None was ever disappointed in the choice. Not too expensive, either. Dinner reservations are a must, even on weekdays, unless you arrive before 7 pm (they open at 6:30) and will promise to be out by 8:30.

Boudin Blanc comes highly recommended by someone who's shown good judgment in other cases, but I've never eaten there myself.

The Chez Gerard chain, if you must have French and you have no other options.

Skip the fancy grub. Go to Dionysus take away restaurant on Cambridge Street and Tottenham Ct Road, just outside the tube station.

Thinking about the donner kebab and chips loaded with salt and malt vinegar is driving me nuts!
