Alaska miles to BCN

Hello,

I just posted a thread in the Alaska forum regarding redeeming miles for J class and also to replicate an AA award itinerary but am having much difficulty. Can I post this thread here as well? I'm looking for all suggestion possible with this.

Thank you!

Hello Banking Scot,

I copied and pasted my thread from the Alaska site. The reason I don't want to fly BA from PHX is that my g/f and I would be flying separately and we don't want to do that.

Need award travel help please

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

I'm trying to book J award travel this morning with Alaska miles and am having much difficulty with the Alaska agent.

Here's the skinny:

I'm trying to book myself and my girlfriend to Barcelona using miles from two sources--AA and Alaska.

I'm trying to book her on Alaska.

I used 90K miles with my AA advantage miles and booked (well, two week hold) myself the following itinerary with AA yesterday:

4/1 phx-dfw (AA)
4/1 dfw-yyz (AA)
4/1 yyz-lhr (BA)
4/2 lhr-bcn (BA)

4/5 bcn-lgw (BA)

4/10 lhr-yyz (BA)
4/10 yyz-ord (AA)
4/10 ord-phx (AA)

A lot of segments, yes, but was able to capture BA's CW which I think is superior, and secured J for all segs.

Now when I called Alaska this morning I asked the agent how and if she can replicate the above itinerary in business. She said she can't. She can only choose AA or BA to get to Barcelona, and b/c AA doesn't fly to BCN (oh really ) it would have to be BA. I then mentioned I'm well aware that AA doesn't service BCN but uses their One World partner, BA to do so. I asked why Alaska can't do that and she promptly told me Alaska "isn't a One World partner"

She could put my girlfriend on F for a BA phx-lhr-bcn leg, and fly DL on the return, but obviously this trip won't happen if we can't fly together.

Any suggestions please? I feel very frustrated. If I know there are no options I would at least be able to deal with that, but if I know that perhaps the agent was erroneous in some way, I'd like to address it.

Thanks!

As you mention, this has already been posted in the Alaska forum. Cross-posting is one of the things that you're explicitly asked not to do here on Flyertalk. So I'll close this thread and suggest those interested in the subject visit the Alaska forum.
