Zeros, Zeros everywhere.

Every year I try to prepare myself emotionally for the shock of New Year's Day and all those zeros in the EQM and "stays" columns, but it is still always a downer. :(

Yes, but look at it as a challenge; there's only one way to go with those columns-up! I 'm thankful for what I accommplished and congratulations to others and wish the best to all this year on making those columns FAT!

Must be like rejoining AA (and not the airline) and announcing one day of being sober.

deleted. sorry.

Even Worse! :(

Not only did my Delta EQM's go to zero, but I redeemed 420,000 miles for an award on 12/31..... Leaving my redeemable balance at 10,330 (which would have been a mere 330 if not for the 10,000 miles for Dash to the Gate posting on 12/29)

To be young again...
:D

JOUY31 Jan 2, 2005 7:22 am

I still have my (small) BA account which is zeroed out only in July, otherwise ... :)

Punki Jan 2, 2005 11:37 am

I just noticed that our AS accounts indicates

Miles required for MVP Gold Qualification for next year: 0

Evidentally they have not yet rolled over into 2005. ;)

We will be flying down to PDX on Tuesday to interview a new employee, earning 1,000 AS miles and one Starwood stay. :D

3 FC tickets from Florida to SE Asia. A total of about 60 hours in the air and another 10-20 hours of layovers depending upon which waitlists clear.

Far and away the biggest wad of miles I've ever shot at once (I think my previous record may have been 120,000 for 2 coach tickets, primarily on SQ, to the same destination). But when I tried to price the itinerary out on ITA, I could only get it to quote Business Class. That was over $7,500 / ticket so $22,500 for the full itinerary. 420,000 miles suddenly seems so much cheaper.

I just logged in to Marriott.com and saw 94 nights stayed this year with 0 required to requalify - pretty good for 2 nights into the year.

At least it a little cushion from all the other 0's.

JerseyJoe Jan 3, 2005 4:37 pm

Exactly the same feelings untill I checked the SWU columns; no zeros found :)

RobotDoctor Jan 3, 2005 4:50 pm

My totals are also zero.

In years past, I was confident that I would attain the highest status offered by UA M+. However, I am not certain that I will attain 1K for 2006. I am in hopes of finding new employment that will offer no travel as I am running on fumes. On the positive side, I crossed over the 1 Million Mile mark so I will never be lower than Premier Executive (Gold). I have been invited for UGS for 2005 so I am again at the top of the pile. :)

Be strong, Punkster.

It would help if the airline websites posted some acknowledgement of your having requalified for an elite level, e.g., "CONGRATULATIONS MARTIN FROBISHER! YOUR CONTINUED LOYALTY HAS EARNED YOU PLATINUM STATUS FOR THE THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR!"

Between Jan 1 and late February when the new elite kit arrives by mail, there is no indication anywhere of your impending status. Aside from the emotional, there is a practical side as well: the member who earns his 60th segment on New Year's Eve might like to have confirmation that the segment was credited properly before all goes to zero.

Punki Jan 12, 2005 3:29 am

OK, I am feeling better now. I have a made a tiny bit of progress with both my airlines and both my hotels. :D :D

No more Zeros.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought Punki was visiting Pearl Harbor!

Same here.

Now that my first trip of 2005 on Delta is over, it's nice to see 7556 MQMs replace the 0 that was there on the morning of January 1. :)

Not too shabby for a single domestic "run" if I do say so myself....and I even managed to pick up 3 stays at Starwood hotels as well while enjoying the weekend in New Orleans (mmmm... good food).

I definitely have to go down there again at some point this year (probably not until after Mardi Gras is over).....if only to stop by Cafe du Monde again and have some beignets. :p

I know your pain all too well, hence why I booked myself about 10,000 miles worth of travel on two airlines to eradicate those evil zeros.

It does on united.com. Emblazoned on the top of my mileage summary are the words PREMIER EXECUTIVE.
