Get FREE Amex luggage tags
Hi!
You can get your own free Amex luggage tags. At least I did. Here is what I did: I called about a month ago to the UK Platinum number and asked about getting a Platinum card even though I live in Denmark. They said that if I had a US Platinum card then they could transfer it over but otherwise I hardly had a chance. Then I asked if they could send me some information about the benefits of the UK Platinum card. They said "Sure" and took my address. Quite some time passed so I suspected that they had just thrown my address in the paper bin - but then today, I got a rather large letter contaning "Traveller Services" for the Platinum card. It had everything (except the card): applications for free Priority Pass, Hilton Gold, free Platinum and Gold additional cards, complete insurance rules, and a listing of which airlines would upgrade you etc. Quite interesting. Hey, must be a funny mistake... ;-) Donīt think that this will work with every one. (Of course not.) But I am curious: What do they say which airlines do offer upgrades to UK Plat?

Okay, here goes:
They have divided the year into three periods with different perks for each period, although these dates are old I guess the information still holds water, the tickets must all be full-fare: (I'll assign these periods letters"): A: 09.98-12.98 B: 91.99-04.99 C: 05.99-08.99 Air New Zealand TO: Sydney, Business A: Free companion and free upgrade. B: Free companion and free upgrade. C: Nothing. TO: Auckland, Business A: Free companion and free upgrade. B: Free companion and free upgrade. C: Nothing. AmericanAirlines: To: USA, First or Business A: Nothing. B: Free companion. C: Free companion. Canadian Airlines: TO: Canada and Latin America, Business A: Nothing. B: Free companion. GoldDust,
where are you obtaining your info from? I am a US AMEX Platinum cardholder, and have not heard of these luggage tags... Regards, DelrayChris |
It's the information from the Travel Pack of the UK Platinum Card.
|
Better strike Canadian Airlines off that list. They are Amex had a messy breakup last April and I would doubt the international situation is any better than the one here in Canada. Can any Platinum Cardholder anywhere in the world take advantage of these route offers? I assume they must be booked through Amex Travel in the UK, but other than that...?
|
All travel must originate in the UK and as far as I know you must have a UK issued Platinum card.
|
For what it's worth, I looked at "moving" my UK Plat card to the States last year.
All it took was a phone call & a US address. (In actual fact they just opened a new account for me in the US). However, when I got the details, decided to move it back - lots of the extra insurance cover (medical & travel) disappeared with the US card (and it's the only reason I pay for the card)...so if you want the extra cover &/or upgrade possibilities and you can get a UK address, it's possible (??) |
According to the UK Platinum department you only need a US Platinum card - they can move that to the UK without trouble, and no UK address is needed. That's what they said!
