Travelocity "improves" site
Yet again, Travelocity has "improved" its site by removing features. This time, amongst other changes, they have removed the "Fare Listing" option.
Anyone know how to get back to it, or of a similar site? |
Wow, all theses improvements just take them out of the lead. Way to go Travelocity!

Expedia still has fare listing.
|
It is still there under another guise. You type in your flight destinations. Then, instead of putting in specific dates, click the button for dates/months between a specific time frame. It will then list the carriers and the cost for same.

Thanks for the Expedia tip. Not as convenient as the former Travelocity option, but it'll do. I to have just switched over to Expedia.
I was able to get an "explanation" for the change from Travelocity. I got transferred from one talking head to another, each of whom explained in great detail how to use the Book a Flight option. I finally insisted on speaking to someone who knew something about the web site. There reason/excuse for canning Fare Listing: The airlines weren't updating their fares, so Travelocity was showing incorrect fares, and it was causing too many complaints from users. Uhhh, sure. Right... Anyway, that's their story, and they're sticking to it. |
DOC 2 BE: Are you referring to the "My dates are flexible" option? If so, that's not what I need. You used to be able to specify a city pair and select up to 3 airlines (or all) and get a complete list of carriers, published fares, fare designators, and a button to show the detailed fare rules.
Expedia, while not as convenient, does give a much better display of the rules, valid routings, etc. So I have to work a little harder, but I get more/better info. |
So I have to work a little harder, but I get more/better info. Interesting that these on-line guys now are required to add some "invisibles" to price quotes, such as the fuel surcharge etc. |
Yup, that was what I was talking about. Sorry I could not be of much help.

I just talked to Travelocity, and they said that they're making changes to the fare listing, and it should be back in a couple of days.

Too late for me -- I've tasted the forbidden fruit over at Expedia, and now I can't go back.
I'm mildly bemused by Travelocity's response -- telling me that the problem is with the airlines so they had to discontinue the service, now suggesting that it might return. Wouldn't surprise me though. Being in Canada, I called the Canadian phone number first. The person answering had already received several inquiries today about this "missing" feature. She just referred them all to the US number, where all the "technical stuff" was. |
Overall, Expedia's fare option sucks! It will list the cheapest 15 to 20 fares but it does not allow you to filter by carrier.
So if you wanted to find international upgradeable fares, chances are that these fares too expensive to be the first 15 to 20 cheapest fares and thus will not be displayed. The only good thing about Expedia's option is that they give you a partial listing of valid routings on the fare. |
And Expedia gives you the MPM for the routing which Travelocity does not.

Could some one please post the "final link" for expedia's fare listing. Can't find this feature.

bernie (and this may vary for different expedia sites), but on expedia.ca you go first to advanced flight options (at expedia's opening screen undernath the city pairs on express search), then choose Lowest Fares. Unfortunately, you will not get all the fares for many routes if you select "all airlines" so narrow it to one airline if that happens. There seems to be a maximum, non-adjustable limit on the number of fares that Expedia will list (or flights on other parts of the booking engine) and you cannot choose "more" like you can on Travelocity.
I don't know why expedia doesn't have a "more" fares option at the bottom of each results page. I have complained about this for a couple of years. They have increased the number that are listed, but still will not list them all. |
