Thanks
Dear colleagues,
I discovered the Board a year or two ago and have to say that it is now the first page I log into every day. I have discovered so much valuable information over that time and hopefully imparted some myself . This is just to say thanks to Webflyer for the enjoyment that this Board has provided me and to wish all out there the very best for 2001. Ozflier |
Yes thanks very much.
|
Thanks!
|
Thank you, as well. This board has greatly increased my opportunities for mileage... and certainly has been the most entertaining and informative board.
|
This looks like the perfect place to make my first post - to say thanks also. I have been a lurker for several months.
|
Welcome rmiller. I guess we all lurk for a while, but I'm glad you've decided to "show" yourself and for a positive purpose. Isn't this place grand?!
|
I think you guys too.

Yes - the big thanks goes to every registered user of FlyerTalk. It is the contributions that has made this the board for travel and as we continue to see the "lurkers" come out (there are tens of thousands of them) it's good to know and say thanks to so many here on the board.
I'm not unique. I, like everyone else here, also take away many valuable tips and information that easily affords me another 20-30,000 miles a year i might have normally missed. On we all go toward another year ahead - 2001 - here we come. [This message has been edited by Randy Petersen (edited 12-27-2000).] |
Randy posts:
I'm not unique. |
Many thanks for all the tips, both good and bad.

Thank you all very much. Due to tips on this board, I have earned over 50,000 extra miles this year, and now travel in more comfort and luxury for less money than I ever would have imagined. A happy holiday season to all, and a super New Year!!!
|
I'm also going to move out of "lurker mode" on this one. I've been a keen daily reader of this site for months and with the gems of wisdom that I've learned here I have: (1)perfected 'carry-on' only travel, (2) had the most outstanding Vegas vacation (thanks Quietlion), (3) Squeezed the most points possible out of every trip and frequently saved time doing it, and (4) become Hhonours Gold without a qualifing stay (It'll help bigtime since I have 10+ days stay with them in Feb/Mar 2001). Thanks to all of you for your wisdom, your guidance and 'virtual' companionship. Best wishes to you and yours for 2001.

Whooooo-ee! So many good posts--I've just gotta come out of my lurker hole in order to say HNY & wishes for a great 2001. I'm fascinated by the posts that talk about "an extra 50K miles by picking up tips from this board"...etc etc.
Now if I can just copy those clever folks, I'll be a happy camper, errrr, a happy top tier flier! Cheers to all... |
I too owe FlyerTalk a large THANK YOU--not only have I benefited from all the tips, suggestions and information found herein, but I've met so many wonderful people that make my frequent trips all the more interesting!

Well it's time for a two-year lurker to finally get his say in 2001. I've talked personally with Randy (yes, I wore the flyertalk hat you sent me on the LatinPass run, but no one was on any of my flights!), did the Latin Pass million mile run (it actually posted--after some mailing back and forth work!), got an extra 15,000 mile bonus for transferring miles from AMEX to DL, got 20,000 miles with MCI, used a code to get an extra 10,000 miles signing up for the DL Optima card, got specials with Sheraton and Hilton, etc. All of these bonus miles and upgrade opportunities I discovered on flyertalk. I also emailed back and forth with several members about the LatinPass run and I used Randy's itinerary and travel agency--I wouldn't have been able to do it without all that help. So a big THANKS to all those who have posted over the last year or two. There are a lot more people who read the information than those who actually post. I do have a suggestion now that I'm making my first "statement": please, please stop replying to posts for the sake of replying. (Yes, I'm speaking to you: just replying to say "I agree" wastes my time and yours). Now that I have that off my chest, it's time to take down the Christmas lights.

That said, this is a community. I feel like I actually have a couple of friends here (even though I have never met any of them) and when they say something I agree with, I like to "reply with an 'i agree!'" This board is certainly about travel talk but it's also a place to joke and laugh and agree or disagree. I am sorry if my "I agree" posts waste your time, but I will continue to reply in this manner occasionally, and hope that others on this board will too! Best wishes to all this new year . . . -levi aka eastwest (edited for a typo) [This message has been edited by eastwest (edited 01-02-2001).] |
I will join the chorus of thanks for what I have picked up here. The whole mood is very supportive and not "one-upsmany" as many of the boards are. Happy New Year to all.
