(It's difficult to tell whether this is a hoax, or just early stages in the airline's startup.)

There have been articles about this airline trying to get off the ground for years, so I think it's legit.

The whole Web site is a hoot. I loved the offer to join them on their inaugural flight sometime this year between JFK and St. Petersburg. Just $3,500 per person. And you have to buy a minimum of two tickets.

The domain was registered eight years ago, what a long startup they are having.

This thing has got to be real it looks ans sounds very russian and has way too many web pages graphics and photo's for a hoax. They spent thousands on this website.

I just tried to put in some random dates for travelling but that didn't really work... . (but ironically the date that is constantly appearing is my birthday ;) )

I did a search on goolge and found this article:

"New US airline Baltia Air Lines has revealed that it is in discussions with potential investors.

The startup carrier proposes to operate in a niche market, flying nonstop from New York's JFK Airport to St. Petersburg and to other cities in Russia and the Baltic region.

The airline intends to launch its flight operations with one Boeing 747 aircraft."

I wonder if this is going to work out.... .

It's been years since I've flown Aeroflot, but I remember those flights like they were yesterday....terrifying experiences they were. Maybe they've improved since then, but if not, I'd welcome some one else's attmpt. What the Aeroflot pilot called a "final descent" I called a "final plunge" as I held onto the seat in front of me for dear life...as I remembered being told that all of Aeroflot's pilots were air force pilots in their off time---and I had obviously been stuck on a plane with a "Top Gun" wanna be.. :eek:
And, having noted the absence of little doors overhead thru which oxygen masks would drop, I remember the Emergency Instructions card with the picture of the FA holding a HUGE tank in one hand and a hose in another, offering oxygen to passengers one at a time. (So, what happens if the FA gets taken out? Just where is that oxygen tank anyways? What do you do while you're waiting for the other 200 people on the plane to get their turn at it?) :(
Back to the rooster, you gotta' wonder about foreign perceptions when they call a frequent flyer program, clearly targeted at Americans, "Freeloaders." :D Oh, to be a fly on the wall when that "what do we call this program?" discussion was on the table. And, just when you're starting to ask, "Why the rooster?", whaddya' know...there's a page on the website just for that question. Did anyone enter the drawing for the innagurual flight? Not sure I'm ready to throw my info. out on that website just yet.....

Yes I would give them my credit card to be one of the first 300 to recieve a free companion ticket. (You didn't ask if I would double check the fraud protection on my card first or buy trip insurance though)

Heck yes they can call me a freeloader if they give me a free ticket for the first purchase. Anybody here that wants to give me 50,000 miles for an award ticket to Russia I'll change my FT handle to Jerry Crump Freeloader.

I wonder if they are a sister airline to this outfit :D
