Newbie need help on finding good deals to Shanghai in Oct.
I am planning a trip to China starting Oct 1st and back in two weeks. I am looking for good deals for two RT from New York to Shanghai, preferably business class if I can afford. I have about 50,000 miles from UA and 35,000 miles (combined with my husband) from AA. Can anybody let me know what is the best deal right now to China and what is the best way to use my mileage for this trip. I am flexible on airlines and stop-overs.
Thanks in advance for your help. |
If you are serious about using frequent flyer miles, I believe you need 60,000 miles on united and it appears to be 50,000 on American (thru cathay pacific).
You can get 20,000 by getting a united credit card if you dont have one and may be able to do the same for american. There are several other alternatives to consider. If either one of you are over 55, you can join united's www.silverwingsplus.com (which costs $75) and get flights for $660 from the u.s. to china. not bad though tax raises it about $100. (You also need to spend like $25 for a coupon). |
First, welcome to FT!
Second, this topic probably should not be in the Milebuzz forum. Third. I think that Oct. is not a high season for asian travel and you should get a good price (around $500-600) from travel agents who are specialized in asian travel. I used JAS travel http://www.jas-travel.com/ and world travel (408) 954-1668 before with good results. |
