Need help - award ticket to europe

I have 90000 skymiles and my wife has 70000. I also have about 16900 SPG points that I can transfer to her delta account. Two business class tickets to europe is 90000 skymiles each. One option is to buy 3100 SPG points and transfer to her delta account. It costs 175 bucks - is there another way to make those 3100 points? The other option is to buy two round trip fares and upgrade to business class. What would you do?

Thanks.

If you don't have the SPG Amex card, apply for it and get 4K pts for first use.

Have your wife apply for the Delta American Express card. It comes with a 10,000 mile bonus upon first use and it is fee free for the first year.

Thanks sbc. We already have the SPG as well as the skymiles amex cards. BTW, I only have about 10 days to get the tickets issued.

Is it possible to *borrow* points from SPG?

You can buy skymiles straight from Delta. The cost for 4000 miles is $143.25. Can be bought on the website.

Are you able to buy miles for overseas flights? I've tried on American and they wouldn't allow me to...

Call again. When you are buying miles on American they don't ask you what you are going to do with them, they just charge your credit card and deposit them in your account.

Lost Frequnt Flyer Miles

I hava a dear friend who is a civilian chef on a naval transport ship. He had thousands of miles with British Airways but they took them away while he was on ship. A notice was never sent to my house notifying him of this as I take care of his correspondance and bills when he is at sea. How can he get the miles back from British Air?undefined

Thanks.

I'll take the first option. Pay $175.00 for SPG or better yet $143.00 for Delta.
Upgrading from selected fare to business require a 25K miles one way. a total of 100k miles for just an upgrade :td:

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

The miles can be bought at a cheaper price from delta but that would exclude the possibility of getting the 5000 bonus miles from SPG when 20000 miles are transferred.

LemonThrower - Yup, its been upped to 90K now.

For those who have travelled on Air France Business class across the atlantic - is it very different from the Delta Business Elite? Last year we travelled on Delta B/E and it was great but we have been told that the regular business class does not come close.
