No FF Miles for Misconnects?
Just flew last weekend from DFW- Stockholm on AA via LAX and ORD. In LAX the flight to ORD was delayed due to mechanical reasons which meant I would miss the connecting flight to Stockholm. AA put me on UA and SK to get to Stockholm. I asked the ticket agent in LAX about getting the AAdvantage miles for the segments not flown on AA and she said I would get them but I had to contact customer service to find out how to do that.
Well, of course when I returned and called AAdvantage the unfriendly agent told me AA only promises to get you there and will not credit flights not taken if transferred to another airline. I am a Platinum member of the (dis)AAdvantage program if that matters. Who is right? Should I get the miles on AA since it was their fault for the delay? |
I think you were given misinformation and you should call back. Wouldn't this post be more appropriately placed on the AA board?

I agree with Sheryl. Try again for the miles. AA is usually quite accomodating. However, they are usually more willing to give the miles if the flights are actually canceled, vs a misconnect. But I would try again.

I know they will 'cause it's happened to me... call again and ask for supervisor.. also, I agree that the AA folks monitoring FT will more likely catch your pblm on the AA forum.. just a suggestion! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Call AA again and don't take no for an answer. They've given me AAdvantage credit in this type of situation and I don't even have status.

What worked for me twice, once in a very similar situation, was to fill in the Missing Mileage Request form on the Web site and ask for credit for the itinerary as originally booked. After all, you upheld your end of the deal by showing up at the airport on time, tickets in hand and ready to fly.
You have to wait 15 days from your flight to send in the form or the computer bounces it right back. Good luck! |
I had a cancelled AA flight last year and called to get the miles. First answer was no. I explained that they cancelled the flight & put me on UA. And that I was going to also lose my 4,000 mile first reservation on the AA website if I didn't get credit for that flight. The same agent relented and gave me the miles....after telling me no way at first..

I called AA in hopes of talking to an understanding AAdvantage agent about not getting my miles for last weekends trip to ARN. Talked to the nicest agent and she actually posted the flights to my account, with basically no questions asked. She definitely restored my faith in AA http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes, indeed; it happened to me last month, and I was credited properly just yesterday, following brief note to the Advantage Dept.
Try again.... |
AA put me on a direct Midway flight RDU -> MCO when my RDU -> MIA leg had a mechanical problem 7/29/00. Since I need the segments, their customer service was nice enough to give me the actual and bonus miles as if I was on the original itinerary. My September statement shows 'X' in front of 7/29/00 segments which the key explains as cancelled flights and a '*' in front of the Midway flight with mileage and bonus in parentheses for negative values to delete what was given me on the last statement.
|
My on-line statement from UA credits me for two UA flights I missed in September when the first flight was cancelled. I flew a DL flight on a different routing. I got regular miles plus status bonus for the two missed flights, and the regular miles count toward Premier qualification.
