There are only about two weeks left before the WebMiles Million Miles Mania Contest closes on September 1. If you haven't heard, they're going to give away a million WebMiles to the person (or people) who submit the most entertaining plans for spending anywhere from 25,000 to 1,000,000 miles. They've put together a cool mileage rewards chart for purposes of the contest that's begging from creative use by you. For example, the round the world award allows for up to 6 stops anywhere in the world served by commercial airlines. Think of the possibilities…

I'm hopeful we'll get some really fun entries, but I expect most people won't but forth much thought or effort. Therefore, your odds should be pretty good. This is your chance to earn a million miles without going through security in Bogota or buying 10-year's worth of Healthy Choice products.

FWIW, PG has already sugested entering as a "team" to obtain eligibility! From his follow up to my original post regarding the contest:

With the Canadians and Australians and Arizonan's out of the running, the few of you who live in one of the other 49 states should have a pretty good shot at it.

I don't think there's been a huge number of entries thus far. I'm expecting many people are working on their plans and will submit them close to the deadline. But I want to make sure all eligible FlyerTalkers get their chance.

How come "Round the World" is only from US - US? You talked about including non-US-ians in the trip, but going around the world can cost up to double (or more!) the "Round the World" cost for these poor non Americans!

I sent in my entry too. It's actually continuation of a quest already in progress. I'm just hoping that webmiles will be happy to bankroll part of my quest -- otherwise, just more stops at BestFare finder for those hidden fare wars to odd destinations!

Kunoichi, Austalians could just tack on a 70k Australia-USA RT before starting a RTW trip. Sure, it'd be 250k this way, but it's not like you're spending your own miles here. All friends outside the US could use this approach for hooking up a RTW.

Well, that's cool... but to get home again, that would be another 70,000 at the end, right? So that would be 140,000 + 180,000, because 'Round the World' must start and end in the US. So I can't bail out if Australia is the last port of call before the US, according to that?

Aus - Round the World - Aus = 320,000?

All the WebMiles awards are round trip, so it's 70k miles for AUS-USA-AUS. So RTW (and then some) starting in AUS would be 250k miles. If you want to make AUS the last stop on your RTW, I don't see who's going to stop you from bailing out there...

I refrained from submitting my idea of flying to London every month for the same dates to take a picture of Big Ben's shadow at 3:00 PM so that I could then be shown a picture of Big Ben's shadow (at 3) and know what month the picture was taken, not so much because I blabbed about my plan in the chat room as thus DQ'd myself, nor because I live overseas and wouldn't qualify, but because I realized that, what with all the fog and rain, my odds of seeing the shadow as scheduled would be 'bout the same's my having tea & crumpets with Dame Edna. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
