Thanksgiving Fare/AA
Hello!
I read about priceline and bestfare here, but seems they don't allow me to select particular airline. Are there any place I can specify AA except going to AA.com (the $2xx to london at bestfare is very attractive va $500 at aa.com) but the point for me to fly to london is a mileage run. Any suggestion are welcome!! (ALSO!! I always use travel agent when I am in and travel to HKG since they give big discount, will this the same case? How about domeestic travel?) |
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, BUT:
Rule One: Less $$ = More Restrictions. You cannot choose an airline on Priceline. You cannot earn mileage on Priceline flights. -levi ------------------ Travel is a powerful antidote to contemporary American arrogance. |
I'm assuming you talking about mich-london.
You might want to check out the fare calendar feature of expedia. It will allow you to see the fare rules for a route. |
You can try travelocity.
Put in the city pair you want to fly, but click any date instead of specific dates. When the rates come up, click on American, then on the calendars that come up pice your departure and return date. It's easier then playing around with the dates and times at the airline site for the lowest price, then you can book it there or take the information back to the other site and get the bonus miles. I don't think you will get an airfare as low as you are trying to get though. |
I just booked a trip to London via ORD for $318 plus tax over the Thanksgiving weekend. It is not that far of a drive to O'hare from Michigan.

THANKS!!!
I searched and the fare is $388 (+tax) from travelocity. But when I selected the date and the final cost is $408 (+$7x tax) and sum up as $490. I am new to travel from US, is that a good fare? (96xx base miles + 5000 bonus) I always don't understand that why AA will not be cheaper than BA and NW which offered non-stop from DTW... seems the idea of "lower price at other airlines hub" is not true... P.S. I don't have a car so I cannot drive to ORD, even so, it is a 5-hour drive ! But really jealous to guys living near ORD whom can get such low fare http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
Most times, airlines will match each other's fares-- so you'll see all carriers with fare x, even though some fly nonstop and others connect.
That fare expires tonight (like NOW0, so if you're reading now, buy it soon. Re. finding mileage run fares: has anyone noticed that Travelocity's Dream Map feature is gone now? They keep moving and hiding it as they "improve the site". Does anyone know how to get to it now, or if there's a good alternate on another site? For people who don't know about Dream Maps, they show fares from a given city for under a given price. So, you can ask for fares from DTW to Europe under $350 and it shows a map with cities and fares. |

If someone knows it would they please post it? I'd like to bookmark that rather than the above link. Many thanks. |
Your link seems fine to me. Isn't DFW the center of the universe?
|
Not on MY Dream Map.

Kitty Hawk - thanks for posting the link to Dream Maps. The Travelocity links seem to have disappeared the last couple of days.
|
Thanks for the link. I lokoed at Travelocity again today and I found the Dream maps icon as one of the 3 changing icons-- but the pull down menu that used to be in the upper left corner is now gone. I also searched their site for "dream map" and "dream" and came up with nothing.
First they take away availability displays from the Easy Sabre conversion, and now this. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Does the information age _REALLY_ give us access to everything, or just access to what _others_ want us to see??? |

The Buzz!
Where did the "Dream Map" go? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/003449.html Originally posted by Kitty Hawk: I finally found the direct Dream Map link I was looking for (I had it bookmarked on my office PC, not my laptop http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif ) http://dps1.travelocity.com/dreamMap...p_arp_name=XXX Just replace the XXX at the end with the airport/city code of your choice, and bookmark that. |
Thanks for the heads up. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
