A Nice Cure For The %&$#* POP-UP's
 

I dont like "POP-UP's". IMHO they are very intrusive and a very disgusting form of advertising. Actually I receive little if any advertising with the nice *ATGUARD* program, but some pop-ups get through. So I searched the web far and wide for a nice positive inexpensive cure.

I have located a FREE CURE FOR THE POP-UP ads. It is small, and interesting enough, it is selective. If you see something you dont like on your screen, click on the nice program icon, it will show what URL's are active, double-click on the one(s) you dont want to see and POOF, the nasty thing is gone forever. NEAT and NICE.

To quote the nice site "BHAM! Give those browser popup windows a taste of their own medicine... You didn't open it, so why should you have to close it?"

It gives you excellent control over all types of ads and has many useful features including sync of your pc clock to an atomic clock, and nifty search engine center which includes a dictionary. Too many features to list (or for me to learn, really). And it's free. How can they do that?

Yes, I appear to be nibbling the hand that feeds me (Randy's) but I did recently come back onboard as a subscriber to InsideFlyer. It was the late deliveries that drove me away. Now, I want to contribute to the bottom line. The 1500 Diners points offered didn't hurt either.

Thank you this may be one of the best things I ever recieve from reading these posts.

Misternice ~ AtGuard was bought last year by Norton and is now Norton Internet Security 2000, and I've never had a problem with it allowing a pop-up when I have the feature turned on. You may want to consider buying it to stay up to date since I don't think AtGuard has been updated since Norton bought it.

I have had it with the ads killing my browser with stuff like:

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://cookie.adex3.flycast.com/serv...umdisplay.cgi?

The following error was encountered:

The dnsserver returned:

Also, there's plenty of software out there for time sync, e.g. Automachron.

Slightly off-topic: Does anyone know of any utility to block all http access to a user-provided list of certain sites?
