Meals on international flights to Asia
 

In terms of quality, which airlines serve the best meals and entertainment on international flights to Asia?

In which class are you planning to travel?

I plan to travel in economy class.

In my experience on coach:


1. Cathay Pacific - Best
2. Singapore Air - Good
3. EVA Air - Decent
4. Korean Air - Decent
5. Garuda Indonesia - Substandard
6. China Air - I'd rather go hungry.

Opinions are subjective, but I hope this helps.

In my opinion I would rate them like this:

1. Singapore - good
2. United - fair/good
3. American - fair/good
4. EVA Air - fair/good (not much in the way of western food.
5. Cathay - good
6. Korean - lousy
7. China - worst than lousy
8. Northwest - fair/good

I thought all the food on JAL was Japanese food. What would you estimate the % mix of passengers on JAL, re: japanese to American?

I am planning on trip LAX to BKK on JAL for the end of the year! Unfortunately, I will be sentenced to Coach class on this one.

I'd have to agree that Cathay and Singapore are the best for food and that China Airlines is the worst. Cathay and Singapore have given me the best service as well. Funny how food and service goes hand in hand. . .

I have a feeling the Japanese:American ratio on JAL would vary greatly depending on the route (and season). My few experiences US<-(NY-NRT) were the vast majority appeared asian (but you never know). I believe they offer some continuing service to Asia, which might affect passenger make-up.

JAL: Good food. (Japanese emphasis, but Western choice for main)
AA: No real complaints here either.
UA: Been awhile, but perhaps a small bit under AA? (Though that compares "UA then" with "AA now")

Entertainment edited: I think most (all?) of the flts I've taken have had a Japanese movie after the WEstern flick.
