Priceline Question
 

Just had my first experience with Priceline, and not bad so far. My wife and I were debating about going to Charleston for a few days Sunday but didn't want to spend a fortune. I got a room at the Westin for $50 per night.

My question is whether the hotel stay will earn Starwood points. I know that airfare doesn't but I don't know about hotels and can't find anything on the site.

If you do you will be the first one to get points at Westin with priceline resrv.

You may want to request the hevenly bed if they have it at that location.

I have received Starwood points for stays a Four Points property via Priceline. I have not yet stayed a Westin via Priceline, however others have received points.

I recently tried priceline for the first time and have a Westin stay. It looks as though anything beyond the room charge gets points.

koberdr .. I suspect you are incorrect to say no one has ever got Westin/Starwood points at a Priceline booked property ... seems like it is not too uncommon!

dingo, congratulations. Was your first bid accepted? I'm curious because there is also a Radisson that frequently comes up on winning Priceline bids for that zone, and their rate is $79 night. You could just as easily have gotten this hotel and you may have been disappointed at the little amount of savings you got.

I hope a lot of people read this post because dingo was EXTREMELY lucky on this one. Other than Sunday night, the Westin is sold out for the remainder of his stay. It was far more likely that he would have gotten the Radisson. He just happened to benefit from one of those occasional Priceline's flukes. Trying to duplicate this success given similar circumstances, you will most likely be disappointed.

I've had three Priceline stays in the past year or so. Hilton and Marriott don't give points, but the Sheraton did. It was even printed on my bill. I asked the clerk if even Priceline stays get points and she said yes.

While Priceline's policy states that you won't receive frequent stayer points it doesn't preclude hotels for awarding them.

Yeah, Priclines' policy says hotels may waive any of the Priceline restrictions if they feel like it. But I certainly wouldn't expect to get points. Plus, if you bid right, your saving can far outweigh the value of any points.

You bet. What's a few 100 Starwood points worth after all? Certailny NOT the $110 (+ Taxes!) I saved on my first Priceline venture -- and I'll still get my automatic upgrade, and there is a flying change I'll get the points ANYWAY!

Starwood's stated policy is that you will not get points or elite credit for the prepaid stay through the discounter. You will, however (always) get points for extras charged to your room or for meals eaten at a Starwood property if the SPG card is presented. Certain contracted services such as parking and movies are excluded.

Most of the time you get an elite stay credit anyway if you charge a significant amount to your room.

Or you may actually get them to give you a cash advance and not have to buy anything. Sometimes it works.
