SYD-International-Domestic return $14.60 by train

I had to take a flight out of the International terminal today but as the return landed at the domestic QF terminal I wanted to leave my bags in the Domestic terminal.

QF refused to take me as I was not actually flying out of the Domestic Terminal (I had flown in First CLass from Auckland), so I had to get the new train.

Great I thought four minutes each way and a nice new train to try. But then the ticket 14.60 Australian Dollars roundtrip.

At Heathrow, the Heathrow Express is free between Terminal 1/2/3 and Terminal 4.

The cab in to downtown is about AUD20 each way.

Is this the most expensive way of getting around an airport ever?

Weird. I caught that "new" train last week just to try it out.

Big let down compared to that Heathrow Express!! No TV's no phones, no non stop, no check-in at Paddington!

Just a regular suburban train that these days just loops via Airport en-route to city. Normal carriages.

The Fare from where I live {northern part of Sydney - airport is in south) is only about $9, and that carries me thru the city and over the Bridge, so that cost is astounding intra terminal, being almost the same.

BIG lack of patronage. Airport stations empty on both my trips basically. Media here saying the cost can and will reduce.

Sorry they stung you. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

There are free terminal transer buses as far as I know?
