Volumebuy AA $50 certificates 25% off are back
No I do not work for anyone related to this post or travel industry or anyone else that has biased my opinion.
This is just an FYI that someone may be interested in buying the AA certificates for 25% off. http://www.volumebuy.com Apologies in advance if this posting offends someone. Add it to the list of 'non-mileage' posts we see here allllll the time. |
Would love to buy a bunch!!
Can't find the pool with the 25% off. Best deal I see is 15% off. Any suggestions where to look ? |
I typed in "American Airlines" in the search box and it listed the $50 ones as a choice. Hope that helps!

The CURRENT price for $50 certificate is $43.75 which is ONLY 12.5% discount not 25%.
The $100.00 certificates are $85.00 (a 15% discount). I also am looking for the 25% discounted one. ------------------ "Free" without charge or cost, having no obligation. |
The $50 AA certs are the ones that can go as low as $37.50 or 25% off, however, the number of buyers has to be such that the pool lowers it price to the bottom tier of $37.50.
FYI, right now the price is $43.75 and has to go down two tiers to get to $37.50 each. |
FYI, I re-read the $50 AA cert pool and it is stated as 38 more "items" required for next purchase price decrease. In past pools, the price lowered based on number of additional buyers joining...
As more items are purchased and prices decrease, everyone in the pool, no matter what price they jumped in at gets the lowered price. |
Actually, CS assured me it's always been "items" they've just changed their wording of late. So if five of us buy 10 certificates each, that's 50 items - more than enough for the next price drop...

Just FYI , they are down to the 25% off at $37.50 with 2 days to go.
Also, I received the last ones I ordered in Saturday's mail and the charge showed up on my Citibank AAdvantage card. All seems on the up and up. Keith |
Just bought a bunch.
Seems like a great deal! One day to go. |
Also for your information, I brought these certificates last time. This weekend, I used them to purchase tickets on AA. They works just fine. The discount is around 30% (25% off plus no taxes).
|
FYI, the AA $50 certificate pool is closing a day early. It closes today at 1pm PST.

I missed the boat. Come home tonight, when to thier site and could not find the $50.00 certicates.
Sure hope they come back soon. ------------------ "Free" without charge or cost, having no obligation. |
FYI, as of yesterday (I haven't been there today), you can get to volumebuy through pointclick and then request reimbursement to save even more money. Of course, as discussed elsewhere, no one has come forth that has actually received any money from pointclick yet. But, if the certificates come back what can it hurt? I've requested reimbursement on some purchases, so I guess next month will tell the tale. Here's hoping http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

A word of caution about Volumebuy.com. You might want to check the credit card you used for your transactions with them: last week I had to call to remove a double authorization on mine (a clickcity), which in effect reduced my credit line by $500. Today, I found a charge already posted for which I had made no purchase.
After I called about the first problem, the mistake was corrected immediately. I called again today to have them remove the erroneous charge, and hopefully that will be the end of it, but having to correct mistakes twice in less than a week is a bother. I hope I am the only one on this board with this kind of problem... Regards honu [This message has been edited by honu (edited 01-25-2000).] |
I have also had small problems with my Volumebuy AA purchase. One of my credit cards was billed an amount in excess of what was authorized. The other card I used (personal vs. business travel) was not billed at all. My guess is that in the attempt to ship both orders at once, Volumebuy simply combined the order. However, the customer service rep realized what had happened almost immediately and was correcting the error today. On the plus side, Volumebuy did pay for UPS 2nd day air to get the AA certs to me and I will be using them later today to make a purchase. rich |
