Angkor Wat. Are you flying in directly from Thailand or going through Phenom Penh? We spent 3 days just at the ruins, stayed at Ta Phrom Hotel - no pizazz but reasonably comfortable and has miminal AC. When we were there the fancy hotel had not been remodeled yet and had no air at all. We paid a guy $50 to take us to the red sandstone temple (can't think of the name of it) which is a couple of hours from the main complex. Tourists were shot there a couple of years ago so be cautious. That excursion took most of a day itself. We thought the capital was worth a couple of days also. We stayed at the Sofitel and it was quite nice but VERY expensive. Across from palace and on the river. Not near the market, however. Mind you, a lot has probably changed. We went the first month the UN came in.

We thought the ruins were amazing, largest ancient temple complex. Angkor Thom looks like something out of Indiana Jones, strangler figs and all. The heat was even worse than that in Bangkok (and Singapore!!), something we are not used to.

Don't get hustled on the visa to enter. Costs $20 American at the airport. Thai travel agents will gouge you. Check with Thai Airlines for latest details. Have fun!
