Flight cancellations and e-tickets
Given the hundreds of cancelled flights in the Midewest and East over the last few days
I would be curious to hear from FTs who were on the road holding e-tickets. What was your experience re rebooking, changes to other carriers etc.? |
My experience has not been over the past few days but at holidays. Was traveling on an e-ticket and it is defintely a pain in the a** if there is a cancellation. First you have to convince an agent to drive a ticket for you *then* they have to give you the FIM and endorse the ticket for you to go to another carrier. What I have started doing is when I know I am traveling at a time when the chance of cancellation is higher (i.e. Thanksgiving) I use a paper ticket and deal with the 'inconvenience'. Just my opinion.

I had an e-ticket for a cancelled flight, was paged the night before (thanks to the UA flight paging feature on the website), called 1K reservations, waited on hold for a record 21 minutes, and rebooked for the first avail. flight, which unfortunately was 24 hours later. I never took the flight, opting instead to drive the 500 miles with a couple of other adventurous folks whom I met while waiting standby for an earlier flight. Had more fun and got there sooner than the re-booked flight... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
