Booking Own Travel
 

My corporation has recently allowed travelers to do all on line booking of air, hotel, car with infrequent monitoring by professional travel agent. This allows travel agents to be downsized and concentrate on international ( read harder) bookings. Best part is we can book personal travel for same corporate negotiated discounts on airfare-read 10-50% discount. The traveler enters the Apollo system and does all the things a regular travel agent would do. Best part is all FF, frequent renter and hotel program numbers are recorded in personal profile and points thus accumulated. Is there anyone else out there doing the same? All employees at our firm were recently given full internet access for business reasons so anyone is eligible to use the forum. For personal travel- discounted airis a given and off to other sites for hotel/car deals yo get the best of all three worlds. Happy, happy ,happy!

The company that I work for rolled out an internet booking system through ITN last year. It gives you all of the preferred airlines, hotels and car rentals (read discounts). If you do not choose the cheapest choice, within reason($800 vs $200), it will ask you to choose one a reason from five or so choices to explain why, however it will not block the choice. Additionally they do not mind if you use it for personal travel, since it helps out the discounts, etc.
