Can u rec a good but cheap hotel in brussels
Can anyone share a good hotel in Brussels. Has anyone tried price line for this and how much did you pay and what did you ask for. I've never tried priceline, but thought this would be a good time to try it. We'll need it for Mar 31

Sorry, last I checked- about 2 wks ago- No international hotels yet at Priceline. Soon!
Try one of the BW's like the County House in the city center that possibly may include a cont breakfast in order to try and save a bit. Or possibly one of the Ibis hotels like the City Suite Catherine near the bus station. |
How cheap is cheap? I just booked a 4-night stay at the Hilton in Brussels for early April at a rate of slightly less than US$100 per night (5750 BFrancs). In Europe, this is cheap to me, particularly for a 4 or 5 star hotel (this is the Hilton International, so it will be a cut above the typical US Hilton). This is their special 3-/4-day weekend that requires a Thursday check-in, or a Friday check-in with a Sunday overnight.

$100 or less sounds good to me, but we may be there only 1 night (Friday), so I need a rate that doesn't require more than that. What does BW mean?

BW=Best Western

The Airport Sheraton is a decent property. Weekend rates usually around BEF 5900. The airport (with attached train station) is directly across the street, so it's very convenient.

Dragging it out of the memory banks.. stayed in the Holiday Inn once, reasonably central, but for cheap there is an Ibis Hotel just off the Grand Place. Beware the airport, it is a half hour train ride into town, but may save you carting luggage around.

I concur on the Ibis off the Grand Place -- clean & nice. One caveat: it was the one place that I could never get a connection on my modem from my room. Something strange about the lines there. I did fine from the lobby.

dgordon,
There are many options in brussels and the best site i found for research was http://www.hotels-belgium.com/ It has many hotels in all price ranges and many offer discounts if booked via the Web. The Hotel Bedford for instance is offering a 3000 BEF (75USD) rate for weekends. Hope this helps!! rich ps. Shareholder, U might want to check that Hilton rate again. 5950 BEF equates to closer to 150 USD per night. however under 100 USD for that hotel would be a great deal!! |
I'm holding a room for $3950 BF which includes Breakfast - They said they usually don't have these special rates, that it is usually 4300 as was first quoted. The Brussels Hilton had a NON- REFUNDABLE Value Plus Rate fpr $99.33 US including tax, no breakfast, but I didn't like the non-refundable part. I will check out the web-site. Thanks

Since I am new to this board, I'm not sure what has been shared but I use Clickit rates if there is a weekend involved. My last trip to Brussels I stayed at the Europa InterContinental. It was a bit difficult to find but I get lost in an elevator. I drove to the hotel but took the subway into town. The stop was only a block away from the hotel. http://travelweb.com/TravelWeb/clickit.html

The web-site that Richlond mentioned is good and I am checking out availabity of a 4 star for 3000 BEF ($75). I will check out your web-site as well. I am looking for the Friday before we fly home. Seems like we will be there for the last week of "winter rates" for lots of places, so this may be good.
Thanks ------------------ DtG |
This web-site hotels-belgium was really helpful. We also stayed in a very nice 'Inn" about 60 miles outside of Brussels. AutoEurope was also great for renting a car.The exchange rate is great so you shouldn't have to spend as much as your thinking. Also call some of the chains. I know they had some "specials" but I went with cheaper accomodations - but I think the Sheraton had something for $99
