Elite Check-in with Group Ticket
 

Hi!

I would like to ask if my family and I travel with a tour by travel agent (i.e. those air tickets should be tour-group rate not eligible for miles), will other FF benefits such as check-in at buz-line and priority seatings will apply (I suppose those ticket not good for upgrade, am I right?)

Also a question about companion, any limitation to number of companions to enjoy FF's benefit? e.g. if my whole family travelling (i.e. 5 persons including myself) and only I am an Elite, can all of us going to the Buz line to check-in and having "elite-only" seating such as exit row or bulkhead?

Will the treatment different at Aisa and Europe?

(P.S. probably 1W's elite flying CX/BA)

why not contact the airlines frequent flyer department with your questions? If you're on a tour package, it's booked in a certain class and upon check in, they'll know that you're part of a group.

I have never had difficulty having elite treatment (check-in line, early boarding, club access) extended to family groups of up to four people. We were never on special tickets, but the people who took care of us had no way of knowing our fare basis until later in the process. On one occasion, when AA gave me an operational upgrade from Paris to Boston, they upgraded my travel companion also when I told them I was traveling with someone else. (They seemed a bit unhappy about it, but they did it.) At the time she had no elite status.

I would suggest that you go first, show the agent your credentials, and then say "this is my family" as you show them to the agent.

Of course, policy may vary from airline to airline, from place to place, from agent to agent or even from moment to moment depending on the length of the line, his/her state of mind, etc.

I've been on a few cruises with my g'f booked through a cruise line.

These tickets are not upgradeable because they are booked in a special group fare, but I did take advantage of elite check-in and boarding.

Yes, and don't forget to put your FF# in your record even if you're ineligible for miles:

1. Makes you eligible for elite seating, if your airline offers it (such as exit row).

2. Lets them know to take care of you if misconnect, etc.

I agree about the frequent flyer number.. there are many times you get miles by mistake.. one is mechanical problems, rebook you on another flight.. somehow it may change the class you are booked in... or make you elligible.... But most of the time, it just goes throguh http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Someone I "know" once got miles on a free ticket by putting in the FF # at the eticket machine.
