Hey Upgrade Me, can you break out the fares on each segment for your mileage run?! That would be very helpful for planning!!....and while I am here, a BIG thanks to Flying Dutchman for the bonus website!!

Hey there everyone, I have been reading the postings over the last few weeks r;e Latinpas promo with interest.

As those who visit the KLM UK 0n line forum will know, I have been advocating how easy it is to reach the 500,000 half million award as opposed to the 1 million.

For those of you out there who are not as cashy as some, and like me cannot afford to do all trips in business class and shell out over $3800 on air fares alone, then you may be intersted in my 'budget travellers' version.

I have costed an itinerary, and actually planned out the actual timings (!!) and my itinerary would be thus:

DAY1
Miami - Bogota with ACES $425 roundtrip

overnight in Bogota

DAY2
Bogota - Panama City with COPA $339 roundtrip

Panama City - San Jose - San Salvador - Guatamala with TACA, LACSA and AVIATECA

Overnight in Guatamala

DAY3
Guatamala - San Salvador - San Jose with TACA, LACSA and AVIATECA $534 for roundtrip

Overnight in Panama City

DAY4
Panama City - Bogota with AVIANCA

Overnight in Bogota

DAY5
Bogota - Miami with ACES

Total number of nights is 4, and the trip includes travel on the required 6 carriers for a total of $1298 US or around 803

And, unlike many schedules posted, it is a round trip starting and finishing in Miami so all you'd need to do then is either credit a couple of your regular KL flights to the a/c or travel to Miami with US AIRWAYS from most cities within the US (I found a ticket on US AIRWAYS that qualified for the promo and was just $188 r/t from Minneapolis to Miami)

The itinerary also affords almost 24 hours in Panama City, and plenty of time in Bogota, San Jose and Guatamala to explore if you wish!

Kind Regards
Samuel

FYI: American is running an AAdvantage special for Latin America until April 30 for a coach ticket at 25,000 miles. They fly to all the Central America and South American cities you need for the LatinPass bonus if you want to start your trip from somewhere there.

Myriad:

It's a little difficult to break out the fares flight by flight, because every CRS seems to fare it out just a little bit differently. I can tell you that the split between the two days is roughly 50/50 in both coach and business. Hope that helps.

Hi all,

Was only a reader, but since benefitted so much from your posts (thanx), thought could do some contribution by sharing info:

Here's my Latin pass schedule for 500K bonus:

PTY-SJO TA522 WED 0600-0610 320 C
SJO-BOG LR691 WED 1040-1345 320 C
BOG-UIO AV77 WED 1615-1740 M80 J
UIO-LIM VX521 WED 2204-0014 72S Y
LIM-GYE VH925 THU 0345-0530 DC9 Y
GYE-PTY CM210 THU 0745-0940 737 C

Total cost USD 1,204. Should be USD1,013 for Y. Scarry part is VX and
VH only offers Y and that segment happens to be a midnight transfer
at LIM... I happen to be in PTY for vacation in a few days, so thought
could spend some 28 hours for the bonus. All flights are reserved and ticketed. (The funny thing is ITN shows VX521 2135-2345... Hmm?)
Thought of difference versions of flight plans, but wanted to be most
conservative in terms of connection time.

Also:

ORD-STL TW669 2048-2200 727-200 S
STL-ORD TW46 1006-1117 727-200 S

for a mere USD 69 also booked and ticketed.

For hotels:

Conrad HKG for HKD 888 (=USD 115, Chinese new years special,
have to be in Hong Kong next week)
Renaissance St Louis for USD 47 (advance reservation/payment) and
Marriott Panama for USD 75 (advance reservation/payment)

Finally, car rental:

AVIS Panama, USD23 per day for economy

That's all folks. Will be back around the middle of February.
Will let you know how all went. Cheers.

Hi all. It seems the LP discussion has moved from the KLM uk forum to here. I've also been reading this with great interest, and I'm planning my itinerary, starting in MIA and ending up in Lima.
One of the earlier messages here posted by upgrademe had a sample trip using the TA 514 MIA-MGA, and then the second leg of that same flight to go on to SAL. I have problems in replicating that on expedia or ITN to get a fare, as they don't recognise such a short transfer. Any advice??

Once I have my trip worked out I'll post it as well.
Cheers

Thanks beckles. What I was trying to do is get a through fare MIA-MGA-SAL as MIA-MGA is quoted at the same fare as MIA-SAL. If I get two seperate tickets I pay separately as well. I suppose I can make the res for different days, and then change the res

Expedia should let you do MIA-MGA-SAL on TACA 514 as two separate flights, if you select the "build your own itinerary" option.

Yes, it costs more, but if you book it as a one-stop, you'll only have one boarding pass, and I can see LatinPass arguing that it should only count as one flight. I'm willing to spend a little extra to avoid that hassle.

So you can get more than one qualifying segments on ONE ticket as long as they're different flight number or on different days??

Does anyone know which hotel rates will qualify??

These are the ones I'm planning to use:
Marriott - weekend rate
Hilton - weekend rate
Fairfield Inn - standard rate
