I guess Pudding Guy does have a point:
Due to the tremendous success and publicity of the LatinPass Million Miles Bonus Promotion, effective March 20th, 2000, only existing members from LatinPass or any of the LatinPass Member Airlines participating programs will be able to participate in this promotion. Members enrolled in LatinPass or in any of the LatinPass Member Airlines participating programs from March 20th, 2000 or after will not be eligible for this promotion. Please stay tuned for additional LatinPass Bonus and Award Promotions coming soon… |
Does any care to estimate the LP bonus' that will generated just from FlyerTalkers ? Based on the extensive LP threads , my feeling is the number will easily top 100 million miles. I wonder what LP budgeted for the promo.
I plan to be extra careful on my run . I will avoid the Flt # 514 from MIA to MGA that continues on to SAL with the same flt #. Instead, I 'll take the # 515 MGA- MIA . Watch all your Ps and Qs. |
Oh no.. Last day today to enroll for bonus, on-line enrollment out of order and service desk in Miami closed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Is there anywhere else I can enroll, or am I out of luck?

LatinPass may be overwhelmed but adding restrictions midway and shutting down the website is downright unprofessional. I guess my parents won't be making the run after all...

From the Latin Pass site:
"Due to the tremendous success and publicity of the LatinPass Million Miles Bonus Promotion, effective March 20th, 2000, only existing members from LatinPass or any of the LatinPass Member Airlines participating programs will be able to participate in this promotion." I tried signing up with the individual frequent flyer programs of several of the Latin Pass Member Airlines. Only Aeropostal got me to a confirmation screen. Others had various error messages. One gave me a ff number of all 0s. BTW, the Aeropostal sign-up screen was only in Espanol, and the final screen said my ff number would be delivered in 5 days. Hmmm... Even the Spanish-language signup on Aeropostal's web site is no longer working...
|
I wonder what is next. The "Marketing promotion gone out of control" handbook could read:
- "Only reservations before ??/??/?? are valid for promotion" - "Only tickets issued before ??/??/?? are valid for promotion" - "Due to overwhelming participation we have to end the promo prematurely on ??/??/??" - "Promotion miles are only redeemable on member airlines" |
I have a temporary membership card with pre-printed account number that somebody who hasn't enrolled yet could use:

Geez, it really makes you wonder about these folks at LP, doesn't it? That's about it for me personally I'm afraid. It's just too difficult to justify investing the time and money in LP under circumstances like this!!

doc,
i actually am pretty happy about this development. The 500,000 mile offer was far too generous. My hope is that I will now have a better chance to use the 1/2 million i have already earned. This development is in reality no different then the many changes done during the 1 world promotion. As a matter of fact I still do not have the miles from Qantas and Canadian. This is 6 months after the promotion began and 7 months after it was announced. LatinPass made a mistake with the generosity and they are now gonna take some heat, but they will at least survive as a company so I can use my miles!! rich |
I have to agree with Richlond. The wording and eligible codes changed during the OneWorld promotion last fall. And some of the OneWorld partners added the requirement that you already had to be a member. I am still trying to get miles out of American. They credited me, butmy wife hasn't received her miles yet. The agent told me to resubmit all the tickets for her flights because "we just don't hand out these hefty bonuses." Our ticket coupons were faxed on the same photocopies in December and we flew side by side on each flight. (The American miles posted March 22. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)I don't think LatinPass is behaving any worse than the big partners of OneWorld and I also wonder how LatinPass will afford the cost of all these miles. Like others who already have purchased our tickets and/or flown I have concerns about the whole deal going bust. If this new restriction helps keep the whole program afloat then I think it is warranted.
