This seems to be essentially buying points at 2.5 cents per point (since you're giving up 5 cents to get two points.) Not planning on switching unless I need to keep some AA points from expiring.

I just started using Shell over Mobile, because I've been getting some great Amex offers and T-Mobile offers, which usually get me $0.10-$0.20 off per gallon. I do fly AA quite a bit and value the miles, but not quite sure the math works out on this... Interesting concept though!
