Daily getaways 2020

I am glad to see this will happen this year!

Interesting. I can't decide if this is tone-deaf or just wishful thinking.

GUWonder Mar 26, 2020 12:22 pm

I too am wondering what they are thinking by running this promotion at the previously planned time, if that is what they do. Buying travel service provider currency of any sort using real money seems to be something that is more of a gamble now than it has been in prior years — more than it’s ever been before for this promotion.

Jaimito Cartero Mar 26, 2020 12:24 pm

Wishful thinking, I’d say.

I just clicked on that link, only to get a 404 Error!

It is neither. At the time when essentially no one is flying, staying in hotels, or renting cars, why not sell some points/free night certificates/etc. even at discount prices to put some $$ in the bank? From what I remember, the last year deal were not that stellar
especially when considering the rapid devaluation of hotel programs.

So it's grasping at straws.

Unless they up the value in the deals. Based on the previous trajectory, these deals will be sitting. There won't be a "click right at 10 AM" issue this time around.

gkbiiii Apr 1, 2020 2:43 pm

The Vegas trips could be hard.

Jimgotkp Apr 1, 2020 9:04 pm

Personally, I don't think the deals will be great even in this situation, specifically because I think most of the deals have already been finalized prior to this COVID-19 situation in the US.

rankourabu Apr 4, 2020 9:34 am

Error 404.... For those who its working for, what are you using?

josephstern Apr 4, 2020 9:44 am

Not working for me now. Maybe I was getting a cached version.

yuel Apr 6, 2020 2:18 pm

Appears the daily deals have been postponed according to the website, it just states check back for 2020 daily getaways
The link works when I clicked on it

josephstern Apr 6, 2020 2:22 pm

Their terms are just a little out of date.

I don’t expect to see them on offer until the second half of this year. And even that may turn out to be wishful thinking in part.

Brendan Apr 7, 2020 12:00 pm

I just clicked on the OP's link and got the same thing as Yuel. No more 404 Pantheon error page.

linsj Apr 7, 2020 12:08 pm

This link works and nothing about a postponement, although it lists last year's participants:

Yes, but until a couple of days ago that page had a countdown clock, counting down to the preview on April 20th, then sales starting on April 27th. The countdown page is gone, so clearly they have pulled the sales. Really disappointing, but not surprising.

Perhaps they are renegotiating deals better suited towards the current climate of covid-19. The only thing it would make sense for them to even attempt to sell is hotel points imo. I could see hotels stepping up to offer deals which brings a little revenue in.

smilee Apr 17, 2020 11:01 pm

The website is so poorly designed, that without some sort of bot, I have never been able to get any of the good deals. I expect it to be the usual waste of time, and the good deals gone in milliseconds.

This could be the year with less competition and better deals. Very hard to predict.

I asked and here was the response from [email protected]

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gifThank you for your email and interest in Daily Getaways. Due to the current pandemic we have decided to postpone Daily Getaways until later in the year. We will be announcing a new set of dates in the coming weeks. We’d be happy to add you to our list for future updates.
Stay safe, stay healthy,
Daily Getaways

I have to assume it will be the year with less demand for the offers. Americans seem set to have way less money for discretionary expenses this year than last year. While having less money makes people into more eager bargain hunters for greater discounts, travel is considered more of a disposable and unnecessary luxury than other kinds of entertainment goods and services for use around the home and that last longer than a vacation.

Better deals? I am inclined to act as if cash will provide the best deals this year and next. I would rather retain cash as my currency rather than exchange cash to get locked into a restricted currency issued and managed by financially struggling travel service providers.

I really wished this didn’t get postponed. I might of actually been able to buy a Hyatt package this year without selling out in 12 seconds.

Doubt it.

Does anyone know if the AVIS coupons that expired in June (purchased last year) have been extended?

Have you tried calling Avis?

manually Jul 6, 2020 3:56 pm

The few times I called, there was a long hold time. I will check with them again

gkbiiii Sep 11, 2020 8:22 pm

What is going on with them now?

Yellowjj Sep 12, 2020 9:19 pm

No doubt postponed until 2021.

yuel Oct 2, 2020 8:05 pm

I purchased three alamo $50 certs, I just checked on them and they are still valid for bookings next year.

randix Mar 13, 2021 6:31 pm

One would think...

but I haven't seen any indication, and we're almost in the latter part of March (2021)...

yuel Sep 16, 2021 1:30 pm

Looks like it’s coming back October 7!
Probably more appropriate to start a 2021 page
