Airline # 6

Hi all

Regarding the Latinpass 500,000 miles promotion I have noticed that for the six Latinpass airlines you can fly the 4 Grupo Taca airlines in Central America plus do a Copa leg there as well.

The question is - is there a sixth Latinpass airlines with a leg in central America ie no further South than Panama City? e does Avianca or some other Latinpass airline have a qualifying leg Panama City - SJO etc?

I don't believe it's possible to fly six and stay in Central America. However, you can avoid South America if that's your goal. Fly Aviateca, Taca, Lacsa, and the Nica substitution in Central America, Copa to SDQ, and SDQ-AUA/SDQ-CUR on Aeropostal.

Thansk Pudding Guy but with due respects to your chocolate pudding efforts I've just discovered that there is a way to get the sixth airline. I'm still eager to hear about other alternatives though.

It appears that you can fly on Avianca or Sam from San Jose to a little known Island called San Andres Island which is part of Colombia but off the east coast of Central America. It looks pretty peaceful and seems like a nice way to pick up that sixth airline. Has anyone been there? I wonder what it costs to fly there?

I have spent many wonderful days at San Andres Island and its 2 nearby keys. It is a free port and bargains still exist. Unfortunately the last 2 times I visited, I saw drugs openly sold on the beach and on the streets. Drug dealers openly approach tourists and display and sell their wares everywhere. Sadly I do not recommend visiting it to anyone anymore.

Rumors are if you piss-off some dealers, they will have a hotel or airline employee plant drugs in your luggage, inform the USA DEA you are smuggling drugs and collect a reward. You collect free room and board in a USA federal prison. Worst case is if they inform the Colombian equivalent of the DEA. Colombian jails are really draconian and Colombian prison sentences are repressive.

Oh come on Peter?! Where is your sense of adventure? Have you ever been to a Columbian prison? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

maybe we can get LatinPass to make Colombian prisons a hotel partner and you can do your hotel requirement that way.
