Virgin $99 London Sale

$99 London Flights

Winter Sale Announced - Ticketing Deadline is January 10th

NORWALK, CT--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 5, 2000--Why visit family in the U.S. or take a pricey Caribbean vacation this winter, when you can fly Virgin Atlantic for as little as $99 each way to London, based on the purchase of a round trip economy ticket. The London holiday crowds are gone; the theater scene is hot; the clothing sales are bigger than ever; and with airfares as low as these, what more of an incentive do you need?

The sale fares must be purchased by January 10, 2000. The prices are valid for travel from January 5 through March 31, 2000; March sale fares increase by $15 per ticket, per flight. Ticket prices vary by gateway and day-of-the-week departure, and do not include taxes. Saturday night stay is required, and the maximum length of stay is one month. No
advanced purchase is required.

All purchases are subject to availability, and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Changes can be made to the return flight to the U.S. while in London for a $150 fee. The children's 25 percent discount does apply.

Virgin Atlantic Airways serves London from nine U.S. gateways: three times daily from New York (JFK); twice daily from Newark, Los Angeles and Orlando; and daily from Chicago, San Francisco, Washington (Dulles), Miami, Boston, and twice weekly from Las Vegas, starting June 8, 2000. From London, the carrier serves South Africa, Greece, Japan,
Hong Kong, the Caribbean, Shanghai and India starting summer 2000. For reservations and inquiries, please call Virgin toll-free at (800) 862-8621, or visit the Virgin Atlantic web site at http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/

Upgrade-able?

The other carriers haven't matched this sale fare as of yet, but they may.

Don't forget about the high taxes on departures to London... On these $99 flights, expect a total of $80 or so in taxes...

Party-pooper -- it's still a darn good deal.

While these fares have not been matched,

BA is offering a fare about $ 10 more.... ( I can only get the GBP equivalent ) and CO, UA, and AA are in turn offerring a fare about an additional $6 more. Thats roundtrip BTW !

I think these are pretty low, but having said that not as low as the fares on offer on our side of the pond:

LON - NYC = $260 including tax on NW
LON - LAX = $290 including tax on NW, and i have seen lower just before Xmas, but not the moment

nw/kl is matching over here. i priced an nyc-lon on expedia with them for $300US. it was a thursday dept. and virgin was the same price.
