Seating in First

What is everyone's preference of seating in First Class? I wouldn't be surprised if everyone has their preferences that differ according to the specific models of aircraft; what about a more general preference, just regarding the 4 across single-aisle style and the 6 across double-aisle style. What do you prefer? Why?

CanadianFlyer Dec 20, 1999 9:05 pm

My preferance is the EMPTY (available) seat.

That's the only kind I can get since I am not an elite and therefore only get up front if there is an "empty" seat (using my CO "if available" coupons)

I love Canadian's 767 configuration in J class (They don't have First). It is 1-2-2, so getting the single seat especially on a long flight is very nice.

Regards,
Empress

I second Empress's preference for CP's 767s in J. 1-2-2 so 4 out of 5 sit next to an aisle and the one who doesn't has got the window. Only 1 out of 5 in a row has to have someone clamber over them to get ouy=t.

Of course BA's 747 P setup allows everyone to be able to get unintefered access to the aisle. I would imagine that SQ and CX have the same set up at least on the 747s?

Don;t forget QF has the same set up in their 767-300s (but with less seat pitch). Haven't flown a AC 767 since a -200 from before 1988.

Prefer aisle seat if domestic narrow body. Prefer window on widebody because there is room to get by to the aisle.

LAX 1K Dec 20, 1999 11:59 pm

I would have to agree... I like to have access to the aisle.. but also do not liek being waken up. On the Wide-Body overseas configuration I prefer window, because I can usually navigate out without hitting my neighbor and even if my neighbor is clumsy, it does not effect me cause I am away from him and the aisle...

In coach, the worse had to be the front aisle of bulkhaed (middle) of a 767. People woudl wake me up for me to move so they can cross my row to the bathroom on the other side.. RUDE

My seating preference on almost all aircraft is 2A. And I suppose I'd have to say I prefer widebodies, specifically the 777 and 747.

2B for me on a CO 757 - MY FAVORITE!!!

I go for the bulkhead (whether in coach or first). An added bonus is an empty seat next to me in either section. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

My seating in first is exactly the same as in coach -- non-bulkead, up front, aisle. Works good for me, laptop goes down below, other carryon up top. I take bulkhead aisle if I can stuff my laptop into my other carryon.

As I always tell the Medallion Agents at Delta when I upgrade ~ Window, non-bulkhead ... I still love looking out the window and I like to be able to put my laptop bag under the seat in front of me for easy access.

My husband and I fly five to eight times per year and with Membership Rewards are able to upgrade to first each time. We have been given seats 2A and 2B each time. We usually book early. I have wondered if these seats are always the first offered.

ANY seat in FC is just fine with me!

Who am I to sneer at the generosity of the capacity control gods?

Two words: window bulkhead.

Window because I can ride with my nose pressed up against the window and look at the glorious things down below.

Bulkhead so I can get out to use the facilities without disturbing my seatmate on the aisle.
