Transfer of Amex and Chase points to family

In recent years both Amex Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards have cracked down on the transfer of points between individuals because of the practice of people selling points for profit. As a result, these programs, which are favored because of their transferability features, have strict requirements for transfers within a family. Chase, for example, requires that the transferee share the same household as the member and be added as an authorized user on a card that generated the points. Because the transferee, my sister, livers in a different state, I cannot transfer points to her, even though I am willing to add her as an authorized user on a Chase card. Amex also has an authorized user requirement. Does anyone know whether Amex also has a "same household" requirement?

They do not, but note that you cannot transfer to her Membership Rewards account. You must transfer directly to one of her airline or hotel accounts which you will be able to link to your Membership Rewards account once you have ordered a supplementary card in her name. You need not actually give her the card, it need never be used. Discussion here:

My spouse has an Amex plat ( since forever ) with a linked Gold ( family member uses ) + personal SPG ( since 02/16 ) churned a few times over the years . In order to transfer the MR pts to my frequent flier account I understand I must be an authorized user but forget that @ $ 175 with the plat .
So the other options are ask to add a green card in my name which will not generate a HP ( possible with the gold already linked ? ) or apply for the Everyday card with current sign up bonus of 15,000 ( if anyone has a link to a higher sign up , let me know ) generating a HP & questionable whether the bonus would be received given the Amex " if you are detected as a current etc " rule . Do you think my spouse would be eligible for the Everyday sign up bonus ? Would prefer that route to get the extra pts. Thx for any advice !
