program changes at Northwest - no notice
Has anybody been notified of Northwest's latest program changes? Check this out: http://www.nwa.com/features/upgrade.shtml
I think Northwest put it on their site on October 6th and it is effective the 8th! Did the "passenger rights" bill in congress contain any provision for advance notification of frequent flyer program changes? |
Short and (not so) sweet!
|
they call this a "feature"?
|
Hope this virus doesn't spread to Air Canada.

Don't the term and conditions of most programs, specify 30 days notice for changes?
|
I'm curious to know just what makes one think that they have to give 30 days notice to change an award program? I believe that most programs state that terms are subject to change.
Let's all keep in mind that the airlines offer these programs as an enducement for you to choose oen airline over another, and then remain loyal to that airline. This is not the same as a contract which is where I think some of the comments to date have inferred. But then again, this is all my opinion. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
The change just aligns them with Delta's policy (more or less).
On that subject, the SkyMiles rules say Delta and its program partners reserve the right to change program rules, regulations, Travel Awards, mileage Award levels and special offers at any time without notice. [This message has been edited by james (edited 10-08-1999).] |
Of course james is correct here but really, aside from the technical aspects, the spirit of the move here is not one likely to breed loyalty nor any "good feeling." People will vote on this with their wallets.
|
Yes Doc, if you believe Northwest, people are voting with their wallets. They are buying high value, Transatlantic business class tickets and the front cabin is full of payees. If they can get that market then the non-profit human cargo in the back doesn't really matter.
