Hey Kenny
I'll look into the Barclays card. So, you think this is a great way to cut down on my travel expense?

Yes, I definitely think so. It would never be the first card I'd recommend, but as a complement to other cards, it's great.

I'm with lwildernorva's point, there's gotta be a more cost effective way to make the trip.

Stay elsewhere. There are tons of much cheaper options. Sometimes what you want and what you are willing to pay don't match up.

I agree.
Dont forget the best last minute option that most people tend to forget . If still don't have a room last min when all else fails, use Priceline.com-- not always the best option to use but sometimes not bad when all else fails. Note: may not always get the location you want but you could always decline and try again for another location nearby.

How can you "decline" Priceline unless you are not talking about their Name Your Own Price product? You enter your credit card number before you know if your bid was accepted. Once accepted, no refunds, no changes.

This post is apt. There is no real reason to book direct with hotels paying published rates unless you're getting *lots* of elite status benefits for doing so. Priceline rates are routinely 30-50% off published rates.

Ignore this advice if your average published hotel rate is already < $100.
