Talkcity-Mypoints Waiters - I have a better solution

Fellow Mypointers

I have a better solution for the slow response time of earning mypoints at talkcity where you don't have to wait for each survey. Here it it:

Rightnow there are 17 topics that give you 10 mypoints each.

1. Open 17 browser windows and load talkcity site. (For Netscape navigator see tip below)

2. open the first browser window

3. Click on the first survey

4. vote for the survey

5. Minimize it (Don't close it)

6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 for the other 16 browser windows

7. Once you are done voting for all surveys, open first window and click on the link to collect points and minimize it.

8. Repeat step 7 for all windows.

Now go surf somewhere else or take a nap or do whatever you want. Give it few minutes and you would have collected all the points.

This way you don't have to wait for each survey points popup window.

I hope I'm clear.

Happy clicking

Regards
venkat

Tip:

If you areusing netscape 4.5 or better, go to Edit, preferences, navigator. In the "Browser Start with" field choose "Last Page Visited". This way all the 16 windows would automatically open with talkcity if you had it loaded for the first browser window.

I use an earlier version of Internet explorer which opens teh blue box up full in the screen.

I find I can open 7 windows at a time but any more than that and my browser crashes.

Fantastic tip but I have a stupid technical question. How do you get all those navigators open. I can only open two at a time. Any tips?

In Netscape Navigator, to open multiple windows

1. You can do File->New->Navigator Window

or

2. Use the hot key!!! which is ALT-N in my case.

Hope this helps

Great tip, thanks!

Perhaps an even easier way is what I do. Open one browser instance and go to talkcity's main page. Then right-click on each survey link and choose "Open Link in New Window". Then return to the original and do it again. I find I can open all the surveys and do each one in succession. I hope this helps!

A good time to do it is whilst waiting up to call for you advance upgrade.

The site is quiet at midnight - but that's only 5am in London so I'm OK>

Well, when I try to get points this morning, it says "There is a temporary problem with this award. No Points can be awarded at this time." So, nothing works.

Getting nothing but error code E4 from mypoints. Did they pull the plug from talkcity?

general45 Sep 24, 1999 11:31 am

I received the same E-4 message this morning. From the Email I received from TalkCity today it looks like they are going to enhance this site with more MyPoints earning opportunities, rather then discontinue this. I am quoting the Email;"Heres how easy it is to earn Points:voting in community polls, building a homepage, visiting OnNow, with more Point earning opportunities coming to TalkCity...watch for them." It also says that you can earn more points by visiting websites and reading targeted Emails. So I think this error message is only temporary; maybe they're trying to correct the problem they have with the long amount of time it takes to earn the points with each survey. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that's all there is to it.

Site is up and running again(5:00P.M EST). The site also seems to be quicker.
