You can go to Plastic Jungle and buy gift cards for 7% off. Then, order your items online through AA Shopping for 3 miles per dollar spent (Home Depot only on AA shopping). This allows you to get full miles while getting a pretty good discount. Saves you $1400 a month and nets you 60,000 miles. Plastic Jungle has over 2200 gift cards...problem being, most are only $500 or less.

This is great. Slight improvements on it would be getting 2% using Cardpool through TCB to buy the cards at the 7% discount, starting you off with 9%. Not a problem if they are small value cards... just do a bulk order. Then, you can use AA or Chase Ultimate Rewards or whatever the best cash back/points back offer is at the time. In all, 15% off on a regular basis should be possible. Don't forget to stack any coupon codes that are floating around, too. Right now, HDDAD5 is $5 off $50... better than nothing.

It was mentioned that Lowe's would not take Lowe's gift cards on a special order. I was able to. I got Lowe's gcs at 20% off a year ago on a Father's Day special. I made sure first with the desk I was ordering from that they would take them for the purchase..these were $100 cards and it was a real chore to ring up my payment with these, but the sales person helping me was very hands on getting it all run through. Also took a 10% off coupon also agreed to in advance...so I really came out on that deal ... for granite. And the yard I got it from gave me a break on the granite too.
Between the gift cards and the ability to use the 10% off, that was the deciding factor on where to buy the granite.
