For those of you who've applied for the RBC Avion - how long after hitting the spend requirement did you get the extra points? Next statement?

With an earn rate of 1 point per $3 in spend, to reach 1000 points will take at least $3,000 in spend.
That $3000+ spend earns you... a $10 off voucher???

Please correct me if I'm missing something.

The offer as I read it is... buy 300 $10 meals, get the 301st meal free.
Can anyone find a worse reward program, for anything, anywhere, ever?
I agree that the base offer is beyond useless but they almost always have offers for 20x points or spend $40, get 300 points, etc. So, if I'm going to Swiss Chalet or Montanas, I'll log onto Scene to load any offers. So, I usually get $10 off after every 3-4 visits.

Scotiabank Gold American Express

Reportedly, this card will see some reward multiple changes starting August 1, 2019, most notably dining moves from 4x to 5x.

This thread has more up-to-date content than the wiki.
I've archived the wiki for now.

The wiki contents as it was on April 15, 2018, are in the wiki archive.
Or, it can be found added onto an older post in this thread...

I don't think it's been discussed here, but I mentioned it in the Amex forum. Amex Canada is now offering personalized offers like the US cards. The app has also been updated, so you can see your offers by clicking on the link in the bottom right corner of the screen.

AE Canada finally Getting AE Offers?

Just received this in my inbox:

For the uninitiated AE offers provides discounts/statement credits for participating vendors when you use your AE card with them. Members need to enrol in the offers they want to use individually with there often being a quota on the number of people who can take advantage of the offer. These offers tend to have expiry dates, with some offers lasting longer than others. This programme has already been rolled out in other countries, namely the US and UK. Some offers I've applied from my UK AE Gold card include a 50 quid statement credit after spending 300 quid with AE Travel, 10% off every purchase at Cafe Nero and Morrisons (grocery store).

I haven't checked out the AE Canada Offers portal yet as I need to get my authentication information sorted there.

Hope this provides marginal value!

Safe Travels,

James

Here's what I've got in mine (AMEX Cobalt). I assume the offers are standard across the board.

Amex Travel's fixed points redemption offer, despite the name, can offer different point redemption values.
I've received 1x value for some bookings; 1.6x or higher for others.
Typically longer flights have given me better value.

For example, I was able to use 50,000 points for $800 in value.
But a flight worth $343.27 would cost 34327 points.
Try a few test bookings to see some valuations.

Not the case at all. Here's what I found (finally) signing in to my AE account:

AE Gold Card

AE SPG Card

Even for me, the offers vary by card even for the same company! SPG card has $100 credit on purchase of $750 or more whereas Gold just gets me 1 bonus MR per $1 spent at Dell.

Would be interested in hearing from Platinum card members what offers they get. Perhaps that will tempt me enough to upgrade my card over to the Platinum one.

Safe Travels,

James

Correct! It should bring you to the AE travel booking page. You should notice that you're logged in to AE Travel:

Enter the flight details as normal, then you should see the fixed point price appear in the search results like so:

IMHO the price here aren't always so hot (likely because the fare portion is already so low). Once you select the flights, you should have the option to use fixed flight travel programme as way to pay.

Hope that helps!

Safe Travels,

James
