Korean doesn't provide their Kosmo suites in first
Lufthansa doesn't offer first class
There are no A350s to/from YYZ (although Philippine Airlines indicates it will in 2018)
It doesn't get ANA, JAL, Singapore, Swiss (not enough demand? AC monopoly?)

Perhaps it's a simple explanation.

At least for LX, it's because LX exclusively operates YUL-ZRH, in turn AC operates exclusively on YYZ-ZRH. Not sure if the deal is actually "written" like that, but it's certainly what it feels like.

YVR doesn't get all the good stuff either. No LH F (anymore), no NH F, NH J is slanted lie-flat, no LX at all, no AF F, and so on.
OK, the CX F is nice out of YVR but that's about it.
Another thing that's ridiculous about YVR is that FRA is farther than TYO but AE charges a lot more for redemptions to TYO.

Same with JL.

We have WK (seasonally), which is basically the same as LX.

Not ridiculous at all unless you want all airlines to make their programs distance-based like Avios. I'd never wish that on anyone.

Good point.
The first year free had been in place earlier; now the annual fee of $120 is stated.
I've been able to get First Year fee waived by applying at a TD bank branch and waving a competitive (RBC or CIBC) card; your mileage may vary.

I got $250 value from the signup points on a recent flight booking.

Yesterday I clicked on the footnote reference 21 and there was info on the first year free rebate. Not sure if it is there now

jerry305 Jun 3, 2018 7:40 pm

Yes, it's there. I hope the FYF still kicks in.

21 The full Annual Fee rebate offer is for the Primary Cardholder, for the first year, for new TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card Accounts (“Account”) only. The full Annual Fee will be reversed within 2 monthly statements from the date of the charge. Annual Fee for any Authorized User Cards added to the Account continues to apply. Full Annual Fee will be charged to the Account after the first year. Existing TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Cardholders are not eligible for this offer. Offer may be changed, withdrawn or extended at any time and cannot be combined with any other offer unless otherwise indicated. This offer is not transferable.

Is the Wiki on the National Bank still accurate?

National Bank MasterCard $150 AF, 30,000 points https://www.nbc.ca/en/personal/credi...rld-elite.html

from what I see I don't see any 30,000 point sign up bonus.

On a side note, I had the card that was advertised as 30,000 points (20 the first year and 10 the second) and the 10 never posted. Then they changed the 10k=100 to 11k=100 so I ended up paying $150 and only getting 20 points.

I am confused about the earning points formula and instruction for redeeming is vague. How many points for what .

crimsona Jun 15, 2018 10:41 pm

Each point worth half cent. 30k is 150

zoqfotpik Jun 15, 2018 11:28 pm

From what I read on Jeff's blog, basically you earn 6 points per dollar on the first 50k of eligible travel expenses, which seems to include foreign transactions. All other expenses and travel expenses exceeding 50k earn 3 points per dollar. As noted above, each point is worth half a cent (ie 30k = $150). However, I think the best use of points is to transfer it to their airline partners. more info here.

crimsona Jun 15, 2018 11:51 pm

The non premier world doesn't seem to have airline transfer options. Only the Premier one does
