I just started flying last year (about 12 months ago) and I've never been upgraded. Take that with a grain of salt because AS is actually the airline I fly the least (by miles). However, I appreciate preferred seats (Currently sitting in Main Cabin Extra on an AA flight through DFW). So far 75K miles, with 28 segments on AA, 26 on DL, and 16 on AS. I still prefer AS.

Never been upgraded on MVPG? Ouch.

Oh well, upgrades would just be a huge icing on the cake if I ever got one.

Thanks for the info!

Also by going AS you can have all the points on AA and DL post to your AS account(all points in 1 account instead of all over). So you can make the 50,000 tier and get luggage and perferred seating on AA and DL, also maybe even a upgrade?

If crediting to and status on AS, upgrade only on AS(per elite leve) or DL (after all DL elite levels upgraded). No reciprocal upgrades between AA/AS.

Good to know. But AS elites get free baggage and preferred seating on AA correct?

Hello, this is a little off topic but couldn't asking all those seasoned Seattle flyers.

I am flying out on a 525pm Alaskan Airlines flight. I am staying at the Sheraton and plan to leave there at 4pm by taxi. Issue is it is Saturday and there is a 1pm Seattle Sounders game that day.
Would I be able to make my flight?

Bigger issue is that it is a delta mileage flight that I bought for 25k miles. The next Alaska Airlines flight that goes out is at 7:10 if I miss the 5:25 but it's about twice as many miles (which I don't have) so if I missed the 5:25 apparently I would be in bad shape. Alaska airlines has a policy that if you call less than 6hrs within departure time and tell them you can't make it that they'll put you on the later flight for a 25 dollar change fee but since I'm getting the flight through delta it doesn't apply.

I thought about just buying the mileage flight through Alaska airlines but the conversion is bad with amex points and I don't want to use my starwood points on this purchase.

Big question is would I be able to make the flight and if I missed it, what do you think I would be able to do to get on the 7:10 flight.

Correct but if you spread them around to all 3 like OP talked about doing you may not get status on any(remember 15k paid by employer that can't be changed on AA). This way you still would get free luggage and priority seating and upgrades on AS and maybe DL. You should also get MVPG for better odds. Otherwise his best bet is low level on AS and DL or AA and DL?

AS upgrades out of SEA depend on the routes you are traveling. This is an important factor we can't really determine from your post. AS up and down the coast and midcon is an easy upgrade; DCA/EWR is not.

Keep in mind that AS status gets you better Y seats/more bags on BOTH AA AND DL (and very rare upgrades on DL), as well as privileges on AS. My inclination has been to stick with AS.

The other benefit is he is travelling wed/thur. Prime upgrade days.

Agreed that crediting to AS for AS/AA/DL flights is probably better than crediting to each individually and not getting any status. Was just clarifying the upgrade info for OP.

Thanks everyone for the information! My plan is to stick with AS for now. It seems to be the best solution.

Urgent change.

My employer is switching from AA to AS for flights. I will have no employer paid flights on AA now, only AS.

Should I use Delta now for frequent flyer? All AS flights would credit to it and I could get 10,000 MQM with a credit card. Or should I stick with AS and a AMEX Platinum?

All advice appreciated. Thanks!
