Miles From Your Travel Agent?
 

Does anyone know where you can get miles for making hotel and/or car reservations? I mean, of course, in addition to the miles you get from the hotel or car companies.

Shouldn't travel agents be rewarding us with miles for the buiness we give them????

Well, in Canada one can earn miles in the Airmiles program for booking with the Extramile Travel agency. I guess anyone can use it but the Airmiles address on file must be located in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or Ontario.

Also, the national chain Carlson Wagonlit has just introduced a points program, though I don't know much about it.

I think you may have some options for online services. Check clickrewards, i know previewtravel is a partner, adn i believe mypoints also has online travel services as partners. As far as the old fashioned travel agents, I don't know, I think they are too squeezed already by the airlines cutting commissions for any of them to increase their costs by giving miles too.

of course, i think you do better by booking online direct with the airlines/hotels perhaps even cars with their online booking bonuses or discounts offered most of the time, than what you receive from those services mentioned above. Guess it all depends on your travel needs.

If you're a member of the IAPA ( http://www.iapa.com ) and book your travel through them I believe they give you miles for your travel.

TRIP.com has something called rewardTRIP which gives you one mile for every dollar you spend at their site for air tickets in addition to anything you get from your credit card or the airline.
