Welcome to Flyertalk, and your first post. I know it can be confusing, I was on for years before I even signed up for a username.

Well, by using the AA Citibank card, you will get miles from the purchases, as well as miles on AA when you fly, so that's double dipping.

There may be travel sites that offer you a commission for using a click through link. I'm not up to speed on these for airline travel, I know in the past they've offered a very small amount of rebate.

any idea or explanation as to why?

I have no idea why they canceled my cards.I had 2 chase freedom cards i also had a chase slate and 2 savings accounts and 1 checking and i was also a authorized user in my wifes sapphire account. They closed all my cards and my wifes card and when i called they said because i have a unsatisfactory relationship with the bank.I never was late and always paid in full.Im blacklisted over there and i dont know why.

I already met the minimum spend on both my aa cards so i wonder if maybe i can buy amex gc through big crumbs portal and use that as a payment for the tickets.

Don't! Citi treats Amex GC purchases as cash advances, not purchases

i have other credit cards to use other than the citi card.I have a capital one and a few amex cards such as the hilton surpass.I just would like to get the most as the tickets cost about 2900 dollars.

I'd always check if an AA.com purchase garners any extra points. Are you looking at an international booking, or domestic?

I value AA miles at 1.2 cpm (Cents per mile). I'd see what kind of return you're getting on your other cards. Normally, I find that most cards offer .5-1.5%. If the Capital One card offers more 1.5% cash back, then I'd go with that one. I value Hilton points at .5cpp (Cents per point).

Have you signed up with Award Wallet? I know they have a feature now, that when you go to log into an account, it will ask you if you want to use a cash back feature.

If paying, see if PlasticJungle, etc. has any discounted gift cards you can buy with that credit card. See if you can reach one of the card resellers through a portal.
