Best program for quick accumulation of hotel nights

We are planning aget-together of family over in NYC next summer and wanted to quickly accumulate about 15 hotel nights total and can spread them out amongst various family members getting cards.

Checking on hilton, it's min 35k pts/night while the best card aval right now gives me only 60k pts (i think its expired though). Any others (not any with annual fee please)

Checking on priority club though, the 80k card is still available and I see hotels in manh only for 25k pts/night which immediately gives me 3 nights per card

Are there any other offers out there I should look into that give me 2-3 hotel nights in NYC or neighboring boroughs? I don't want to stay at very low quality hotel but holiday inn/express kind of fits the bill by offering decent services. Of course, it's no hilton or marriott

Hilton w/o annual fees:

Amex Hilton - was 65K in November, 40K is standard
Citi Hilton - 50K - you can get them two at a time.

With Annual fees:

BoA/BoH - 35K Hawaiian transfers to Hilton 2:1 - $79 AF ea - 70K x2
Citi Reserve - 2 weekend nights, $95 AF + Gold (breakfast)
Amex Surpass - $75 AF, 60K + Gold for one year (breakfast)

Otherwise, Marriott is 50K per card, plus a Cat 1-4 cert (virtually useless in NYC proper), AF waived first year, $100 statement credit.

Hyatt is two nights, you can sometimes get a statement credit equal to the AF if you do a dummy booking on hyatt.com

Priority Club is/was 80K.

Club Carlson has some new offerings, but I think there are annual fees.

15 nights is a lot. How many cards are we talking about?

I think you answered your own question. Priority Club is your best bet with some hotels allowing max occupancy of 4. Chase will get you at least 3 nights per card.

With the Hilton AXON/GLON awards you can stretch those points even further (check hilton forum for more info) and you can get pretty nice rooms for less.

How many nights will you be staying. If you're doing a 4 night stay then I think AXON/GLON awards are a decent option. You could do the Amex and Citi Hilton cards and be at 115k points which would put you pretty close to a 4 night award stay for a CAT 5 or 6.

The Hyatt card is not a bad deal either considering you get 2 nights at any Hyatt hotel. They've got some nice properties in NYC.

Do any of the cards allow applications from Canadian. So far it has been difficult to get a US credit card from a hotel chain or an airline. Any suggestions from successful applications. Thanks for your input.

Consider Starwood. Get 25K for credit card signup bonus. Sheraton LGA East is right in Flushing Chinatown. Tons of good, cheap restaurants within walking distance. Nice and clean, better than Holiday Inn. Subway around the corner. You can take express train into NYC midtown during rush hours in about 35 min (and back in evening hours). 10K a night. And every 5th nights free. Or you can do Cash & Point there.

15 nights is a lot, esp in NYC. You most likely will have to stay outside of Manhattan.

FIRST - Welcome to FlyerTalk! Now I have a question:

Why do you need a US credit card? You are very unlikely to get one unless you are a US citizen or resident and have a verifiable US address.

There already are PLENTY of Canadian hotel or airline credit cards.

Just use Google like I did and you will find these Canadian hotel cards:

IIRC, the 2 free nights for signing up is for any hotel, whereas the free night after renewal is for Cat 4 or less.

All cards now have spending requirements before giving you the points. IsOP aware of that?

Managing your own and the cards for your spouse is one thing, but spreading it out throughout the family is a big job and takes lots of organization.^
