First,
All has been great advice, thank you so much for everything. Second, I am now understanding what you mean about the saver... 50k is great. The problem is that my fiancee and I are resident doctors.. this means we are short on a couple things, time and money! We can only take 5 business days off a month... normally I can go between months and work it out to travel on weekdays to get cheaper fares, etc.. she can't do that though so we are kind of stuck with weekend to weekend travel which, of course, means less reward options. The dates in may or june are flexible as long as it doesn't go over 5 business days off. Im going to have her beg for a sixth.. and if we can team that with memorial day, maybe we can make this happen... 200,000 points seems doable given our roughly 100,000 already. IF we can snag those saver flights. |
What you could also do is trade your UR points for UA GPUs that are converted to LH upgrade certs. However, you need to have a certain number of posts and join date in order to access Coupon Connection on FT.
Personally, I would buy the 100% bonus right now on both accounts then try to do a F redemption after accumulating more miles.... If you decide to do the US 100% bonus promo then use the UR points for a stopover stay in Paris or something at the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome where rates go for $500+ a night. |

Thats why we are doing Greece. Something different. Would love to go back to Paris but once again the damn 5 day rule! sucks. |
I don't have any advice but I hope you find your tickets. We did a Greek honeymoon in June 2 years ago. 50% of the plane was Greeks going back home, the other 50% was honeymooners. I know because our flight got cancelled due to a mechanical after like an 8 hour delay so all of a sudden it became really clear who was on the flight. We flew on the back of the bus the whole way because my husband booked the trip and didn't know anything about flying in the front back then (didn't matter to me, I don't mind the back). In fact, when we got rebooked, the couple who sat next to us were also two medical residents just married on their way to their honeymoon. Good luck!

Thanks, I am pumped to go. I can afford the coach tickets and everything, it just would be fun to do business class... I've gotten some good ideas, hopefully something will turn into a reality! I need to find a miles patron haha

In other words, for example, ask off for the last 4-5 business days of June and the first 2-3 business days of July? [thus meeting the 5 business day limit each month, but pasting the days together at the end of a month and the beginning of a new month] Doing something like this might help with finding award seats. :) |

So could you two work something out with your facility where you could schedule a honeymoon that spans the end of a month and a beginning of the next month?

Trying to stick memorial day in there too so we can leave on week days and that day doesnt count as a day off. |
