getting miles from travel agency

I am leading a group of people to Hawaii this summer. I am buying all the tickets on my cc, which numbers close to 100.

I have a capital one venture card that I am using.

Can I also get the miles from the travel agency on my account ?

A newbie sure would appreciate some help from you veterans.

thanks

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8530/5.0.0.1030 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/417)

Travel agencies do not award miles; airlines do, and typically to the individual passengers named on the tickets.

If you purchase the tickets directly from an airline's group sales department, you might get some consideration.

I hope that you have a very high credit limit on your credit card. :)

airline miles

I am going to (haven't yet) purchase them through a travel agency. Since the payment is all in my name is there any chance I can get the miles ?

I get points using the capital one venture card but sure would be nice to double dip so to speak.

Limit is pretty high on the card :)

Open a small business account with each airline you use (like skybonus). register for all promos and get huge rewards in points.

You might be able to get some miles or status using the right cc or gift card. What airlines are available?

I can think of 3-4 CC that would be better than Cap1.
Unless you have a small business to register with the airlines, the FF miles goes to the person named on the ticket. Good luck and enjoy.

Also if it's a chartered or group rate, the tickets might not be mileage earning.

You might do better to get a credit card branded to the airline you are traveling on. Even better might be something like Amex Preferred Rewards gold, which gives 3X on airfare and the points can be transferred to a variety of airlines.

There is no way you can get the miles for the people who are actually flying, only for the spending associated with the tickets.

You could also consider signing up for cards with large bonuses where you might normally have trouble meeting the spend requirement. For example, I don't know what the current offer is, but the Amex Biz Gold gives 3X on airfare, and there have been bonuses of 50K (rarely 75K) points for signing up and spending $10K in 5 months. Similar situation for Chase Ink biz card.

Amex PRG with 3X airfare would be good. You can also go to traelocity or orbitz through Chase UR Mall and earn 2 points per dollar as your double dip.

ask the ta...

if you are gifting the trip, then proceed w/whatever deal you can make....

if the others are repaying you, i wouldn't get in the middle, but get each to pay the ta.....even among small family groups, hard feelings can come from people who want to cancel....
