Booking to BZE

Hi all, thanks for any help offered. I'm looking to book a trip for 2 to visit a friend in San Pedro next spring (one week in mid/late-March or April 2013, dates are flexible).

Currently, I have about 81k CapOne points and 55k Chase UR points. I'm trying to find the best value to get from MEM to BZE. I'm willing to drive a little ways if necessary (Little Rock or Jackson, MS).

My credit is good (765-800 depending), but I'm hesitant to take a hit on any additional apps as I might be applying for a mortgage in the near future.

So, what are my best options for airlines into BZE? I'm open to award or paid airfare (coach is fine). I'm new to the game and trying to dig through all the potential options with flexible dates, departure cities, and airlines is mind-numbing. It seems like many FT'ers have all the flight schedules memorized!

Not asking for y'all to do my homework, just suggestions on airlines really. I'm thinking transferring the UR to Avios might be the best bet since I can avoid the fuel surcharges to Central/South America??

Went to Belize this February for either 30,000 or 35,000 miles RT each using AA miles.

look on orbitz/other to see who flies from mem/other to bze and the prices for your dates....

book awards when you find them....if no awards, look at prices out various months & see if 6 mo, for example shows better than 11 mo....

you are looking at spring break season...

If you can find "MileSAAver" Coach award seats from MEM to BZE via DFW or MIA on aa.com, you should be able to secure those seats for 29K or 30K Avios roundtrip, per person.

Note that the ba.com award search engine can be buggy about finding connecting award flights on AA. You might have to call the BAEC Service Center (and pay the telephone booking charge) in order to get the awards issued.

In the meantime, you might want to try to build up your stash of Avios by crediting hotel stays, car rentals, and paid flights on AA to your BAEC account.

I went to BZE last Dec w Delta miles, 35k. Went open jaws into BZE and out of MGA. Nice trip.

35k redemption is a pretty great deal for the miles. I try very hard to not use my United Miles (I keep them in my Chase UR) so maybe sign up for Delta AMEX cards and get your ticket that way. Delta isn't showing availability now for next March for Feb has some dates. If you're using miles, you'll need to be flexible with dates on Delta.
