Quickest way to a RTW ticket and its valuation
So I've finally set a goal for all my miles hoarding activities. I'd like to be able to redeem a RTW ticket in economy within the next few months (let's say 3-4).
Here's my current balance in FF programs: United: 165K Delta: 103K American: 49K The question here is do I use all of my United miles to redeem one or do I try to find additional offers on Delta to reach the 180K sky peso threshold necessary for the ticket. Like probably everyone else on here I value my United miles much more than Sky pesos thus I'd prefer to use my United miles in some other way. However, I'm not sure what other opportunities are out there for Delta. I already have the Skymiles Amex card (30K signup bonus) and plan on applying for the business card (currently my offer is 35k on that after $500 spend). I've already done the Fidelity signup bonus on both Delta and United. I can't find any information on the OneWorld RTW mileage requirement but I don't really see myself being able to reach that by then (at best I'll be able to get another 50K or so I'm guessing). Ideas? Any helpful advice is appreciated. |
If you do the 2 browser with the citi AA cards, you will get another 100k. You only need to spend 160k miles in order to fly 50k miles with 16 segments on oneworld partners. By far the best RTW value out there. However it'll be pretty tough if you plan on leaving within the next 3-4 months....

I was planning on signing up for the business one but that would still only net 50k on AA. |
SPG points and Amex MR points transfer to Delta. It would be difficult to earn 77k Skymiles in 3 months however.
With your timeline, redeeming United miles is probably your best bet. |

Yeah unfortunately I think I'm ineligible for that one since I unknowingly (and stupidly) signed up for a 30k after $750 spend AA card about a month and a half ago. Not sure if it's worth a try applying for the AMEX version of the card?

I can't find it on their website This Thread will give you all the info you need on AA RTW tickets Miles required: ticket: Max 16 segments & stopovers AA RTW tickets are by far the best value. Basically, they're distance based and are limited to 16 segments. However, you can have a stopover at all 16 segments if you'd like. There are a few other restrictions & rules noted in the other thread. |
