Moving from Australia to the UK - which FF program is best?

I'm not sure where to post this, so sorry if this is not the appropriate place...

I am moving to London next month.

I currently have:
QANTAS Gold (0 current SCs, reassessment date 28 Feb 2013)
Velocity Platinum (70 current SCs, review date 10 Dec 2012)

Before I officially reside in the UK I will have the following business class flights:
1 x SYD-LHR
1 x LHR-SYD
1 x OOL or BNE-LHR

Once I am in the UK I will be travelling economy class within Europe mainly to France, Italy, Spain and Germany.

I will also have at least 1 x LHR-BNE-LHR flight per year in business class.

Any guidance would be GREATLY appreciated, can I stay with Qantas/Velocity and will another airline status match or should I change to another FF program? I am incredibly confused as to what is going to give me the most bang for my buck! I need to decide ASAP because I need to book my first SYD-LHR-SYD trip.

TIA!

Bubbles23 you can remain on QF and it will earn on BA And QF Gold (oneworld Sapphire) will give access to the BA lounges when flying to Europe.

QF generally a good program for paid premium flights (due to SCs) and other big advantage is the lifetime status points if you're anywhere near.

If planning a long stay in the UK or moving permanently worth looking at Avios due to the ability to get UK credit cards etc.

May also be worth putting cheap Economy fares on BA as only YHB earn 1:1 on QF, GKLMNOQSV earn 0.25:1 as well as minimum earnings.

Unlikely that BA will match your QF status. Maybe might match Velocity (as different program)

Velocity less useful in the UK, although could still earn points if flying Singapore or Ethiad to UK.

Would also consider switching to BA as your QF Gold status will make the transition less painful with OW Ruby benefits. Your planned trips will get you close to BA mid-tier status which comes with a nice set of perks. And the main benefit of BA miles (NKA Avios) is that you can get very good value if you use them for your short-haul trips to Europe.
