Which card to use for large spend [Consolidated]
 

Unfortunately need to have 15K of spend in the next month or so.. :( Trying to see the silver lining..

I currently have the 75K Amex Gold Business offer..
Got the Chase United, Marriott, and PC visas...
Got the SPG Amex card

what other cards should I get to use up $15K of spend in a month?
(I prefer Amex MR, SPG, or PC points the most).

Is the spend going to a vendor/store that accepts AMEX? The AMEX PRG (personal) comes to mind, as it gives 15k bonus points when spending $30k in a year. The $15k would get you halfway there, then just put all your gas and groceries on the card (2x points) to get the rest.

Chase Ink Bold, or other business cards with high minimum spend are good. How far into the AMEX Gold Business minimum spend, that is around $10k isn't it?

What's the Amex PRG? sorry is that the platinum one with $400+ fee?

the Amex Gold 10K requirement will fill itself over 4 months.. this is an additional 15K (roof replacement :( ).

Do you mean that you have $15K that you KNOW you're going to spend in the next month, and you want to put the $15K spend on whatever cards you can find that will get you the most points?


Or do you mean that you have cards that require you to spend $15K in the next month, and you don't know what to spend it on?

It sounds like the former, which is rather backwards from what I'm used to reading here...

it's more like best way to allocate large spend? I'm not needing to meet a spend.. i need to know which card to spend it on..

Moderator likely changed it. There's many similar questions to this one, and they will probably be merging similar threads into this one.

The PRG is premier rewards gold, similar to your business version. It's got a higher annual fee, (waived for the first year), but offers great bonus categories with 2x on gas/groceries and 3x on airfare. If you can get $30k in spend each year, the 15k bonus points more than pay for the fee (assuming you transfer the points to airlines and redeem wisely).

As it is a roof replacement, make sure the company accepts credit cards and specifically AMEX. Some companies won't accept CCs for payment, and many that do accept CC's, will not accept AMEX. Also make sure you aren't paying a higher price or an add on fee in order to use the CC.

The big question is what category is the spend in? Is this wedding spend? Storm damaged house spend? Travel spend? Or ?

Some cards offer bonuses by category of spend.

Some cards offer bonuses for spending at their affiliated brand (think wedding spend for the honeymoon vacation at a Hilton hotel, for example)

If business spend, maybe you want the SPG Business AMEX to get the sign on bonus and go for a spending level bonus?

Goals: Amex MR (out). Chase UR, Priority club. I basically want priority club points and lots of it if possible to use for a 12 night French polynesia stay next year with IC.

Is the PRG bonus posted as soon as 30k spend is achieved, or does one have to renew the card to see the bonus?

have you thought about the chase british airways card, it just 50k sign up but you can get a companion miles pass if you spend 30k in a year, so your half way there, or the hilton amex surpass card, spend 40k in year and you will be diamond with hilton
