The Gods must be crazy? (Where did the post go?)

Ok, I truly hope that this is a technical problem here at FlyerTalk and not a censorship...

There was a post by Bryan at Webflyer, entiteld "The Gods must be Crazy...". It was regarding the Diet Coke Rewards promotion.

Earlier today, I posted a rather lengthy and (time consuming) post that listed all of the rewards available. I just went to check on the thread to see if anybody added anything, and the thread is gone. It was at:

Hummm......

Funky weird, man. I was reading that earlier; still had it in cache. 'Refreshed' and it went 'bye-bye'. Perhaps everyone is now drinking PEPSI and/or Guinness (as they should be)and thus the thread was moot? http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Cheers,

'toad

Not censored. I'm the culprit. Was posting a comment on your posting of the chart and something went astray. When I got back into FlyerTalk the thread had disappeared. Hope they find it!

doc Jul 8, 1999 6:02 pm

I saw it too, and wondered if they might have combined it with my original post under OMNI called "dehydration fix produces miles," which was of course for the same diet coke rewards promo. This does not appear to be the case. Sounds like a technical problem indeed! Hopefully it will be reposted one way or another!

Well, if that is the case, and we have a technical problem here, I wonder how many other threads just 'dissappear' (especially if nobody noticed that it is gone?)

FlyerTalk WebMaster - help! Please restore the old thread.... it looks like you got a bug somewhere in the system!

doc Jul 9, 1999 8:59 am

I've noticed occasional individual posts "dissappear" before, including one or two of my own, and wondered about what the problem might be!

steve100 Jul 19, 1999 4:39 pm

This posting still has not returned.... In my humble opinion, this is a pretty serious flaw if postings just dissappear like this.

Any comments from the folks who run FlyerTalk?

The original version of this thread might be gone but it has been active in the OMNI thread under: http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/Foru...ML/000034.html

Since this board is so active, it's unlikely that we lose too many threads since there would be more talk about it. This is the first I've heard about a "lost" thread that we didn't move into a new category. As soon as the techies come in today, I'll have see what might have happened and restore if possible. We'll also check with Bryan to see if anything was done on his end, since he started the thread. We are now on this...stay tuned.

bryan at webflyer Jul 20, 1999 10:54 am

We're looking into it, Steve. The post is definitely bye-bye. I didn't delete it.

MileKing: could you perhaps provide a bit more detail about what happened when you tried to post? It might help us debug the system. Thanks.

doc Jul 20, 1999 1:43 pm

Just for clarification, I originally had first posted it under OMNI and then bryan subsequently posted it under the buzz. I noted jokingly under his thread at the time that "maybe we do have too many forums!" I'd just have been better off posting it in the buzz- or so I'd thought- 'til now! The sad part is that steve100 had just completed entering all the specific earning data which coke neglected to put on their website for some unknown reason!
