Best offer for Hyatt points?
 

Hi all,

I'm planning a proposal to my long time gf in the Summer next year.
I would like to have a nice hotel stay during that period. So, Hyatt hotels in south east Asia are my top choices. I am looking for Hyatt cc best offer for points/status/free nights. The current offer has only 2 free nights. Is this the best offer for Hyatt CC since the past 3 years?

Are there any other best ways/ other best credit cards offerring points which can convert to the most Hyatt points ?

Chase Sapphire Preferred 50k points signup bonus.

They can be transferred to Hyatt.

There is a buy bonus on Hyatt points until March 15. 52,000 points will cost $960. If you need more you can combine points with another account for free. For a property like the Park Hyatt Sydney, using 22,000 points per night rather than paying $900+ is essentially a 50% discount on the room. Personally I value Ultimate Rewards points high enough that I would not transfer to Hyatt unless I absolutely had no other choice.

If this is the only purpose you have for points for a while, you're not maxed out on Chase cards, and your credit can stand it, Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Freedom might be your ticket. 50K Ultimate Rewards points with the Sapphire for 3K spend, 30K more with the Freedom for $750 spend. 80K plus points earned on qualifying spending will get you at or close to 88K. You can transfer those to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.

I am curious though why you would not transfer them to Hyatt unless it was a last resort. I was under the impression that was the best bang for your buck (using UR).

Chase Sapphire 50k can get you 10 nights at the Bali Hyatt - Not sure how demanding your girlfriend is when it comes to hotels, but I'm sure most women would prefer 10 nights over 2, especially in a decent setting.

Chase Sapphire Preferred 50K is good; however, I am waiting for targeted offer of 75k or more.
Transferring from UR points to Hyatt is worth more than to United miles?

I do not know which option is better. Initially, I am planning to use UR points for UA miles. I have looked at Hyatt Credit Card current offer for 2 free nights (1st free night after 1st purchase, 2nd free night after $1000 in 3 months, also Platinum level). Maybe this is the only Hyatt CC offer so far. I do not know if this is the top offer since the time Hyatt has been a partner with Chase. Should I wait for top Hyatt offer? (since the time from now to Summer next year is a long period)

What kind of SE Asia location are you interested in?

Hyatt doesn't exactly seem to me as a major player in the region, and none of the properties strike me as those exceptional ones that we all strive to redeem our points for. Of course, if you have a specific property in mind, it might make sense then.

I never stay at SPG, but I'm fairly certain they have excellent properties in Thailand. Usually I scroll through their properties when they have a sale and see a bunch of expensive beach-front properties that I would like to enjoy with my girlfriend.

There's IHG too - planning a week-long stay later this year at the new IC in Samui on points.

If you only have 2 free nights, than Sydney or Tokyo ($700-900/night) would be best value. Other Hyatts in Asia are between $150-300 mostly, and the UR-to-Hyatt exchange would be better value since you could stay 4-7 nights depending on the category.

I agree with benzemalyonnais though, that SPG has a LOT more offerings in SE Asia. Many are good/great value, especially with Cash&Points.

What makes you think you'll get targetted? Ive had chase cards since at least 2006 and have never receieved a targetted offer and neither have most people I know. For the most part, the 50k will be the best you'll get. If you can get the Shappire + Bold card, you're looking at 100k points, plus spend and you can get 110k points, enough for five nights at the best properties in the world (Maldives, Paris, Tokyo, etc...)

Also, the Grand Hyatt in HK is a good use of points in Asia for a hotel that is expensive.

I hope you don’t mind my asking but I’m wondering where you’re seeing that. 50,000 UR points are generally valued at $625. Your comment would imply a cost for the Hyatt Bali room of $62.50 per night and/or a much greater redemption value for UR points vs Hyatt points. Thanks.

BTW, some would consider transferring UR points in order to cancel the Sapphire card (maybe in preparation for a future churn or to avoid an annula fee) without losing the points.

Category 1 hotels are 5K/night and the Bali Hyatt is a Category 1 hotel.

There a LOT of Chase cards that you can get to transfer to Hyatt. Since you have awhile, you could potentially get all of them - just don't go too crazy since it's the same bank and we're talking about your credit:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred 50k
- Chase Ink Bold 50k
- Chase Freedom 30k
- Chase Sapphire 25k
- Chase Ink Classic 25k

180,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points just in signup bonuses after you transfer out of Ultimate Rewards, and not to mention the points you'll earn by hitting the minimum spend (over 10,000!), and the 7% dividend at the end of the year from the Preferred card... You're looking at 8 or 9 nights in a top category Hyatt that could be valued at over $9,000

That is not true. They are only valued at $625 if you book travel through their booking engine which is a very very low valuation for Ultimate Rewards points. You can transfer them to numerous travel partners like United or Hyatt and easily receive over $1,500+ in value.

Can you get the bonuses for both the chase sapphire preferred and the chase sapphire? I didn't think that was allowed. (same question with ink bold and ink classic)
